Brethren pages 50-54

EXT. VLAD'S HOUSE - NIGHT

The house is surrounded by crime tape and filled with police.
Vlad runs to the house followed by Thom.

Thom flashes his badge and the police part.

Some distance away, Grigorov looks at Vlad's house and the
police.



INT. VLAD'S HOUSE - NIGHT

Vlad walks around the ruins of his house with his mouth
agape. Thom follows him from behind.

THOM
They were members of 7.59 pm. Well
armed and organized.

VLAD
This is crazy! What have I done?

LT. MURRAY (O.S.)
Nothing, but you're the move
visible vampire in the city.

Lt. Murray stands amidst the police.

VLAD
Have you heard anything from the
kidnappers?

LT. MURRAY
Not yet, but his partner brought in
a suspect earlier. We'll get him
to talk.

Vlad sits down. In front of Vlad is a large spot of dried
blood.

VLAD
And my wife?

LT. MURRAY
I'm sorry, but she was unresponsive
and we couldn't find a pulse.

Thom seems surprised.

THOM
You're dealing with vampires here.
Where is she?



INT. HOSPITAL MORGUE - HALLWAY - NIGHT

Vlad and Thom storm down the hallway. The Morgue worker
follows them.

MORGUE WORKER
I mean, she was covered in blood
and looked...

VLAD
You don't know what you saw.
(to Thom)
You're sure, right?

THOM
If what I know about you guys is
right, yeah.



INT. HOSPITAL MORGUE - TABLES - NIGHT

Vlad and Thom open the door and enter the room filled with
bodybag covered tables.

MORGUE WORKER
We haven't done anything yet, I
mean, I haven't even opened the
bags.

VLAD
Shut up and help me find my wife.

Thom, Vlad and the Morgue Worker move amongst the bags,
looking at the tags.

Thom sees a tag labeled, "Mina Draculovic."

THOM
Got it.

Vlad pushes Thom aside and rips the bag open with his hands,
revealing Mina's bloody face.

The Morgue Worker cringes.

Mina's face is white and appears dead.

Vlad runs his fingers down Mina's face.

VLAD
How long has it been.

THOM
Three hours, maybe, how long does
it take.

The Morgue Worker relaxes and seems confused.

VLAD
It can vary.

Vlad moves away from Mina.

VLAD (CONT'D)
What's going on? I'm just a
basketball player.

THOM
Life's gotten a lot more
complicated, and not in a good way.

The Morgue worker gives Mina an inquisitive look.

VLAD
I don't know...

Suddenly, with eyes glowing red and fangs bared, Mina screams
and tears out of the body bag. Her body is covered in blood
and floats into the air, with her feet shrouded in smoke.
Mina's body appears complete, with both arms and legs intact.

The Morgue worker leaps across the room and hides behind a
table.

Vlad jumps to his feet and holds Mina in his arms.

VLAD (CONT'D)
It's alright, you're safe now.

Mina floats to the ground, stops screaming and her face
returns to normal. Her breathing is faster than normal.

MINA
Danny, is Danny alright?

Thom lowers his head.

THOM
I don't know. They got away.

Mina gives Thom an puzzled look. Mina moves to Thom and
touches his blood-stained and bullet-riddled shirt.

THOM (CONT'D)
I'm sorry, I did all I could.

Mina nods. Then Mina begins to sob and buries her head into
Vlad's shoulder.



INT. INTERROGATION ROOM - DAY

The Thug 7.59 is handcuffed in a chair behind a desk.
Lindsey paces around the room.

THUG 7.59
Where's my lawyer?

LINDSEY
Your lawyer? I don't care who you
get, no lawyers going to help you
with the jury once they find out
you helped kill a 9 year old kid.

THUG 7.59
He's not a kid. He's one of the
evil undead.

Lindsey slams a picture of Danny onto the desk. The picture
shows Danny looking like a normal kid.

LINDSEY
Evil? He looks like a kid to me.
I think the jury will agree.
You're going to fry unless you help
us out.

THUG 7.59
Hey, if that's what it takes for
this country to take its head out
of its own ass, then my death is a
small price to pay.

Lindsey grits her teeth and turn her back to the Thug.

There is a knock of the door.

LINDSEY
What is it?

The door slowly opens, revealing Grigorov.

GRIGOROV
Perhaps I could be more persuasive.
