The Weather Girl - pages 17-20

INT. TAYLOR AND HUDSON - DAY

Leonard sits in his cubicle. A pile of papers is dropped on
his desk.

Doug stands outside Leonard's cubicle.

DOUG
Get that back to me by, oh,
tomorrow.

Leonard seems confused as he looks through the papers.

Doug walks through the cubicles.

Doug looks into Carrie's cubicle and winks.

Doug exits.

Leonard starts flipping through the stack of papers.

Carrie pokes her head out of her cubicle.

Leonard's phone rings and Leonard answers.

LEONARD
Hello?

CARRIE
(muffled)
Hey, do you need a hand?

Leonard pokes his head out of his cubicle.

Carrie holds a phone on her ear as she peeks around her
cubicle.

LEONARD
Well, uh, I don't want to keep you
from your work.

CARRIE
(muffled)
Oh, it won't take long. I remember
what it was like being the new guy.
Well, girl, oh, you know what I
mean.

LEONARD
Ok, thanks.

Carrie flashes a thumbs up sign and hangs up her phone.

Carrie scampers from her cubicle to Leonard's cubicle.

Carrie leans over Leonard's desk and flips through the
papers.

CARRIE
Ok, this makes absolutely no sense,
but this is how we do it. Now
report A is the epidemiological
date, like from test groups, you
know, organized by income level,
location, race, you know.

Leonard seems overwhelmed.

CARRIE (CONT'D)
Report B cross references report A
with income and buying habits,
creating numbers inputted into the
HALO sheet, the Hatten analysis
load offering.

Leonard looks out the window. Carrie continues her focus on
the papers. As Carrie talks, the sky brightens and the day
becomes sunny. Leonard tilts his head and looks like he's
thinking.

CARRIE (CONT'D)
This is supposed to show what
elements people are looking for,
but really, I don't think it does
anything. It's just something
fancy to show execs. But really,
you just need to make a good
summary and have it make sense, and
you'll be fine.

Leonard turns back to Carrie.

CARRIE (CONT'D)
You think you got it?

LEONARD
I hope, but thank you.

CARRIE
Oh, it's not problem. And don't
worry, no one will expect you to be
perfect immediately.

Carrie nods and scampers back to her cubicle.

Carrie flashes a thumbs-up to Leonard before entering her
cubicle.

Leonard bites his lips and flips through the papers.

The page shows a chart of numbers.

Leonard flips from page to page, showing page after page of
numbers.

Leonard taps his finger on the papers and looks from side to
side.

Leonard exhales, puffing his cheeks.

Leonard lifts his cell phone and hits a button.

There is the sound of a speed dial, followed by ringing.

AGENT BOB
This is Bob.

LEONARD
You know anything about
advertising?

Leonard smiles.

INT. TAYLOR AND HUDSON - CONFERENCE ROOM - DAY

Leonard stands at the head of the room. Various poster
boards and a powerpoint screen are behind Leonard. All the
charts are colorful and vibrant.

LEONARD
So to summarize, our data shows
that the most visible color schemes
are red mixed with black, and
though humor has it's place, the
sense of competitiveness is key.

Taylor, Carrie, Doug, Sarah, and others sit around the room
and appear in awe.

Leonard looks about and takes a step back.

TAYLOR
Wow.

Leonard smiles a little and raises his eyebrows.

TAYLOR (CONT'D)
Now that is how presentations are
supposed to go. Take notes people.

Doug frowns.

TAYLOR (CONT'D)
You, tell everyone here how you did
that.

Leonard looks left.

INT. HOMELAND SECURITY - DAY

Leonard walks the office, where Agent Bob, the Bartender, the
Vendor, and other agents sit.

Leonard drops a pile of papers onto one of the desks.

LEONARD
Analyze these.

Leonard walks along, dropping a pile of papers onto desk
after desk.

LEONARD (CONT'D)
Analyze these, analyze these,
analyze these, analyze these.

The agents all pour over the papers.

AGENT BOB
How would you like these organized?

LEONARD
Can you guys do powerpoint?

Agent Bob nods.

LEONARD (CONT'D)
How about posters?

Agent Bob nods.

LEONARD (CONT'D)
Anything else?

INT. TAYLOR AND HUDSON - CONFERENCE ROOM - DAY

Leonard stands in front of Taylor and the others as before.

LEONARD
Oh, almost forgot, here's a summary
for each of you.

Leonard lifts a pile of professionally bound booklets and
hands them around the room.

Taylor nods with a satisfied look on his face.

Carrie flashes Leonard a thumbs up.

INT. TAYLOR AND HUDSON - CONFERENCE ROOM - DAY

Leonard, Carrie, Doug, and others sit around a table. TAYLOR
(60), a white haired hippie, stands at the front of the room.

The sky is a little cloudy.

A number of shoe ads are mounted on the wall.

TAYLOR
And this is our new client. Not
bad right.

PEOPLE
Hmm, yeah, nice.

TAYLOR
Well, it's crap! Your jobs will be
to give them a whole new look and
identity. Doug, you're in charge
of development. Carrie, market
research and make sure Doug gets
his research.

Doug smirks at Carrie. Carrie looks away with a smile.

TAYLOR (CONT'D)
And you, new guy.

LEONARD
Uh, Leonard.

TAYLOR
Uh, go do your thing.

LEONARD
Huh?

Taylor makes a mocking face.

TAYLOR
Huh? Do whatever they tell you.

Taylor walks towards the door. The skies outside are now
sunny.

TAYLOR (CONT'D)
Do your thing people.

Taylor exits.

The people all looks at each other.

DOUG
I guess we're done. Do your jobs,
people.

The people all stand and exit. Leonard continues taking
notes.

Leonard looks up. Only Carrie sits in the room with him.

LEONARD
Uh, hi.

CARRIE
Hi, I just wanted to introduce
myself. I'm Carrie. What're you
working on?

Leonard hides a pages containing the words, "Trouble - Doug,
Taylor, shoe contracts."

LEONARD
Oh, you know, just taking notes and
stuff.

CARRIE
First job in advertising?

LEONARD
Heh, is it that obvious.

CARRIE
Well, you don't really seem the
type yet. For starters,
advertising's all about getting
your name across. You on the other
hand are...

LEONARD
Oh, oops, I'm Leonard.

Carrie laughs and stands.

CARRIE
Yeah, I know, you just told Taylor.
But all the other new guys made
sure that everyone knew their name
the second they set food in here.

Leonard looks back and forth.

CARRIE (CONT'D)
But then again, maybe that's good.
We could use someone who does
things a little different.

LEONARD
Heh, well...

CARRIE
But hey, I guess you'll be fine.
We hired you, right? You must know
something about this. I'll see you
around.

Carrie exits.

Leonard lifts a finger and opens his mouth.

EXT. TAYLOR AND HUDSON - DAY

Carrie exits the building and takes a deep breath. The skies
grow a little brighter.

BARKER (V.O.)
Don't worry, you're not working
alone.

Carrie walks past a VENDOR (45), selling hot dogs.

The Vendor watches Carrie as she walks past.

INT. RESTAURANT - NIGHT

Carrie, Sarah, and some girlfriends giggle at a table.

SARAH
Can you believe he did that?

CARRIE
Yeah, like anyone can ever control
everything.

SARAH
Men are always like that.

OTHER GIRLS
Yeah, totally.

Carrie looks away and takes a drink.

SARAH
What are you thinking, Carrie?

CARRIE
Why do I have to be thinking
something?

SARAH
Because I know you, and you only
act like this when you don't want
to tell me something.

Sarah smiles.

Carrie frowns at Sarah.

CARRIE
Oh fine.

The girls clap mockingly.

CARRIE (CONT'D)
I thought just like you before, but
I don't know, I'm 35.

SARAH
I wish I was still 35.

CARRIE
No, no, no. I just... I just want
a guy who honestly tries. So,
yeah, maybe I won't have the same
freedom, but I'm sick of being free
and sad. I'll take a little tied
down and happy you know?

The girls all look at each other and nod.

Across the restaurant, a BARTENDER eyes Carrie and watches
her table.

EXT. CITY STREETS - NIGHT

On a rainy night, a man stands on the sidewalk with his hands
raised.

AGENT BOB walks up to the man and shows his badge.

The Agent pulls the man aside.

Carrie exits a building and covers her head while raising her
hand.

Immediately, a taxi pulls up to the sidewalk.

Carrie jumps into the cab.

As the cab drives off, the rain slows.

INT. HOMELAND SECURITY - RESEARCH ROOM - DAY

Leonard sits at a desk. The Agent, Vendor, and Bartender
stand in front of the desk. A pile of papers sit in front of
Leonard.

AGENT BOB
We'll give you these reports every
week.

Leonard lifts up a stack of papers.

LEONARD
Uh, thanks.

AGENT BOB
If you have any special assignments
for us, we're always available.

Leonard nods.

LEONARD
You're the cloak and dagger guys,
huh?

Agent Bob nods.

LEONARD (CONT'D)
So, what do I call you?

AGENT BOB
You can call me Bob.

The Weather Girl - pages 8-12

INT. HOMELAND SECURITY - DAY

Leonard, holding the stack of papers, walks down a hallway.
Barker walks up to Leonard. A few other employees walk
about.

BARKER
Leonard, good to see you.

LEONARD
I finished your paperwork.

BARKER
Excellent.

Barker takes the papers from Leonard and hands them off to an
employee walking by. Leonard turns and looks confused.

BARKER (CONT'D)
Come with me and we'll get you
situated.

Barker pulls Leonard along.

Leonard looks about from side to side. The office seems like
any business office, with cubicles and ringing phones.

INT. HOMELAND SECURITY - RESEARCH ROOM - DAY

Barker pulls Leonard into a small, windowless office. There
is a desk, a computer, and a chair. Barker pulls out the
chair.

BARKER
Have a seat.

Leonard sits, with Barker to his side.

LEONARD
Is this my office.

BARKER
Heh, no, this is where you find out
about your job.

LEONARD
Yeah, about that...

Barker holds up his hands.

BARKER
You know how weather's determined
by El Nino, the jet stream, and
global warming?

LEONARD
Uh, kinda...

BARKER
All lies. The weather's actually
determined by this.

Barker types on the keyboard.

A picture of Carrie appears on the monitor.

BARKER (CONT'D)
Her name is Carrie Atherton. She
works a couple buildings over that
way.

Leonard blinks.

BARKER (CONT'D)
Kinda hard to believe, huh? But
it's true.

INT. CARRIE'S APARTMENT - DAY

Carrie walks through her apartment with a cup of coffee.
Outside, the skies are foggy and gray.

Carrie takes a drink of coffee.

BARKER (V.O.)
When she's happy, it's sunny. When
she's pissed, it rains. That's
kind of over simplifying it, but
you get the idea.

As Carrie walks, the skies clear and the day becomes sunny.

INT. RESEARCH ROOM - DAY

Leonard and Barker as before.

BARKER
Now, your job is to make sure she
doesn't get too crazy.

LEONARD
Excuse me.

BARKER
Look, son, global warming happened
because her last boyfriend was a
jerk. Hurricane Katrina brewed up
after her dog died. If she gets
too worked up, it can get really
bad for our country.

Leonard stands and starts pacing.

LEONARD
This is crazy.

BARKER
Yeah, won't argue with you there.

LEONARD
How... How'd this happen?

BARKER
Well, that's classified, but I will
tell you this. The next time a mad
scientist threatens to destroy the
world with some weather machine,
we're going to take him a little
more seriously.

Leonard leans on the desk opposite from Barker and looks
down.

LEONARD
I don't know if I can do this.

BARKER
That's where you're wrong. If
there's anyone who can do this,
it's you. You're the one who can
feel trends when everyone else has
got nothing. You'll be as good as
anyone in predicting a meltdown and
preventing it.

Leonard looks back at the door.

Leonard turns back to Barker.

LEONARD
Alright, I'll give it a shot. What
do I do?

INT. TAYLOR AND HUDSON - DAY

Carrie walks through the cubicles with her cell phone on her
ear.

BARKER (V.O.)
You'll probably need to learn about
her, so we set something up.

Carrie hangs up her cell phone and shakes her head.

Carrie stops and talks to Sarah.

CARRIE
How was your weekend?

Leonard's head pokes out from a cubicle.

Leonard looks around and sees Carrie.

DOUG (O.S.)
Hey, you're the new guy.

Leonard turns around and sees Doug. Doug extends his hand.

DOUG (CONT'D)
Hi, Doug Russell, nice to meet you.

LEONARD
Hey, I'm Leonard.

They shake hands.

DOUG
Ah, I see you've noticed our little
flower over there.

LEONARD
Well, uh.

DOUG
Her name's Carrie, and I've called
dibs.

Leonard seems taken aback.

Doug turns away.

DOUG (CONT'D)
I'd love to shoot the breeze, but
we've got work to do. See you
around, Lenny.

Doug winks and points his fingers like a pistols, making a
click sound.

LEONARD
See ya.

Leonard descends back into his cubicle.

Leonard opens a notebook. The page has 2 columns, marked
assets and trouble.

Under trouble, Leonard writes, "Doug."

Friday, March 23, 2007

The Weather Girl - pages 5-8

INT. TAYLOR AND HUDSON - DAY

A marquee on the wall reads, "Taylor and Hudson." The office
is composed of a number of cubicles. Carrie sits in a
cubicle filled with small, cute trinkets. A nameplate on the
desk reads, "Carrie Atherton."

Carrie hold the phone to her ear.

After a few seconds, Carrie hangs up and shakes her head.

Carrie begins shuffling a stack of papers.

DOUG (40), with slicked back hair, walks to Carrie's cubicle
and leans on the wall.

DOUG
Hello there.

CARRIE
Hey, you.

SARAH (40), plain looking, peeks around at corner at Doug
with a look of distrust.

DOUG
Just wanted to congratulate you on
an excellent presentation today.

Carrie looks down with a little smile.

CARRIE
Why thank you.

EXT. CITY STREETS - DAY

Leonard walks down the street. Leonard hits a patch of
sunlight and stops.

Leonard looks up at the sky.

The clouds in the sky disperse, revealing patches of blue
sky.

Leonard gives the sky a perplexed look as the street grows
brighter around him.

Leonard raises his hand to shade the sun.

Leonard continues looking at the sky.

All around Leonard, people walk about. Only Leonard seems
perplexed.

The day becomes sunny, with deep blue skies.

INT. BARKER'S OFFICE - DAY

Barker and Leonard sit around the desk. Leonard's arms and
legs are crossed.

BARKER
Thank you for coming in for a
second interview.

LEONARD
Well, thank you for this
opportunity.

Barker leans back and looks out the window.

BARKER
Crazy weather we've been having,
eh?

LEONARD
Mitch Hedberg would say, 'Perhaps
it's only our perception of the
weather.'

BARKER
Well, what would you say.

Leonard uncrosses his arms and leans back.

LEONARD
I don't know, but something doesn't
seem right. Maybe it's global
warming or the ozone layer, but
something's really off.

Barker nods.

BARKER
Ok, I think we're good.

LEONARD
Excuse me.

Barker picks up some papers and flips through them as he
speaks.

BARKER
Talk to my secretary, she'll have
some papers for you.

LEONARD
Wha... what?

BARKER
You got the job, see you tomorrow.

LEONARD
But I need to give notice and...

BARKER
Taken care of, see you tomorrow.

Leonard blinks a few times.

Leonard, looking confused, stands and walks to the exit.

Barker continues flipping through papers.

INT. LEONARD'S APARTMENT - NIGHT

Leonard, dressed in a t-shirt and shorts, sits at his dining
table. Take out containers are scattered about the room. A
stack of papers sits in front of Leonard.

Leonard picks up the first paper. The letter head reads,
"United Stated Department of Homeland Security - Security
Clearance."

Leonard sighs and begins filling out the paper.

Thursday, March 22, 2007

The Weather Girl - pages 1-4

INT. LEONARD'S APARTMENT - DAY

LEONARD (29), nerdy and dressed in a white shirt and slacks,
stands in front of a mirror in a small bedroom. A television
behind him is tuned to the morning weather report.

WEATHERMAN
(muffled)
Looks like nothing but blue skies
today.

Leonard takes a deep breath and fastens a tie around his
neck.

WEATHERMAN (CONT'D)
(muffled)
Temperature should be in the middle
to high seventies without a cloud
in sight. I guess we're in luck,
it's just another perfect day here.

Leonard puts on a suit jacket.

Leonard shakes his shoulders and looks into the mirror.

INT. CARRIE'S APARTMENT - DAY

CARRIE (35), pretty though showing a little age, walks with
her cellphone on her ear. The apartment appears cute,
decorated with stuffed animals and crafts. A briefcase sits
on an end table.

CARRIE
No problem, sir, everything is
right on schedule. I'll present at
the meeting this afternoon.

Carrie closes her phone and smiles.

A tea kettle starts whistling from the kitchen.

Carrie turns to the side as she takes a step forward. As she
does this, she kicks the end table with her foot, knocking
off her briefcase.

The briefcase hits the floor, sending papers everywhere.

Carrie jumps up and down, holding her foot.

CARRIE (CONT'D)
Oww, oww, oww, goddammit!

EXT. GOVERNMENT BUILDING - DAY

Leonard, dressed in his suit, walks to the top of a subway
tunnel and stops. Leonard looks to the sky and holds out his
hand.

The sky is gray.

A few drops of rain hit Leonard's hand.

Leonard looks confused.

Leonard ducks and runs towards a dull gray building with
American flags on the wall.

INT. HOMELAND SECURITY - DAY

Leonard, looking a little wet, enters a glass door. The door
reads, "Department of Homeland Security." Inside, a
receptionist sits behind a desk. A sofa sits against a wall.

Leonard walks to the receptionist.

LEONARD
Hi, my name is Leonard Young. I
have an appointment with Lieutenant
Barker.

RECEPTIONIST
Oh yes, the job interview. I'll be
a few minutes, so if you could just
have a seat.

LEONARD
Thank you.

Leonard sits on the sofa.

Leonard fidgets and brushes water droplets off his jacket.

RECEPTIONIST
Would you like a towel?

LEONARD
No, it's alright. I thought the
weather guy said it'd be nice
today.

RECEPTIONIST
Eh, you know how much to believe
the weather report.

Leonard nods and takes a deep breath.

INT. BARKER'S OFFICE - DAY

Leonard sits with his arms and legs crossed on one side of a
fancy desk. A nameplate on the desk reads, "Lieutenant
Francis Barker, Director of Special Operations." On the
opposite side sits Barker (60), a gruff, grizzled man.

Barker looks at Leonard's resume. The resume lists, "Harvard
BS Mathematics and Probability, Stanford Master's in
Communication, Financial Analysis, etc."

BARKER
Impressive numbers, Leonard.

LEONARD
Thank you, Lieutenant Barker.

Barker sets down the resume.

BARKER
But what they tell me is that
you're best when there's no numbers
involved. Like you can make sense
out of things where no one else's
got a clue.

LEONARD
Heh, well, uh, I was able to find
Wall Street trends that followed
seemingly no mathematical formula.

BARKER
Interesting. How?

LEONARD
Excuse me?

BARKER
No numbers, no proof, nothing to
show your trend. How'd you get
anyone to listen to you.

LEONARD
Well, uh, there's always the bottom
line. I showed the VPs my
predictions for eight straight
weeks, and after I was right every
week, they just decided to trust
me.

Barker leans back in his chair. Outside the window, the
skies are cloudy.

BARKER
So, how'd you make these
predictions?

LEONARD
Heh, I really don't know, I guess I
can just feel the trends or
something. Like I just kind of
know what'll happen inside, you
know?

Barker crosses his arms.

BARKER
Feel the trends, huh?

LEONARD
Uh, well, even if we can't see it,
there is some knowledge to the
universe.

Barker nods.

BARKER
Thank you, we'll be in touch.

Leonard blinks.

LEONARD
Thank you, Lieutenant Barker.

Leonard stands and exits the office.

EXT. GOVERNMENT BUILDING - DAY

Leonard walks with his head down under gray skies.

Suddenly, Leonard stops and leans to the side as someone's
briefcase bumps him.

Leonard looks up and sees a surprised Carrie.

CARRIE
Oh, I'm sorry.

LEONARD
No, no, it's fine.

Leonard smiles and chuckles a little.

Carrie looks down with a little smile.

Leonard and Carrie continue along their way, walking away
from each other.

Leonard glances back, over his shoulder, at Carrie.

As Leonard turns forward again, Carrie glances back, over her
shoulder, at Leonard.

Carrie continues walking with a small grin.

A ray of sunlight cracks through the clouds.

Brethren - pages 110-118

EXT. CONVENTION CENTER PLAZA - DAY

A group of 7.59s near the street exchange gunfire with the
Slaves and Vampires near the Convention Hall.

Gunfire from the 7.59s guns down a few Slaves.

Slaves and Vampires retreat.

7.59 GUNNER
We got them now!

There is the sound of police sirens.

A number of squad cars screech to a halt down the street.

Police jump out of the squad cars and fire at the 7.59s.

7.59s adjust to fire at both the police and the Vampires and
Slaves.

Thom, standing near some burning cars, spots Lindsey huddled
near the Convention Hall.

THOM
Lindsey!

Thom runs through the gunfire towards Lindsey.

Thom is struck by several bullets.

Thom is struck by a dart. The dart explodes, covering Thom
with fire.

The fire covering Thom extinguishes, and Thom appears
uninjured.

Thom continues running toward Lindsey.

Thom tackles Lindsey and rolls on top of her.

THOM
Snap out of it, you need to take
cover!

Lindsey flails around.

LINDSEY
Must shoot humans.

Lindsey tries to point her gun at the 7.59s, but Thom holds
her down.

THOM
Dammit! You're FBI, remember?

A few bullets strike Thom.

Thom slumps a little and Lindsey wriggles free.

Lindsey takes aim and fires.

Thom grits his teeth.

Thom grabs the scepter and he becomes covered in flames.

Thom rockets forward and grabs Lindsey.

Thom darts into the Staples Center, leaving a trail of fire
behind him.

INT. STAPLES CENTER - DAY

Thom, no longer on fire, handcuffs Lindsey to a basketball
hoop. Lindsey struggles against her restraints.

LINDSEY
Let go. Our enemies are outside.

Thom grabs a nylon cloth barrier and ties Lindsey to the
hoop.

LINDSEY
Let me go!

Thom takes a step back and watches Lindsey struggle.

THOM
Good. Stay.

Thom ignites and fires out of the arena.

EXT. CONVENTION CENTER PLAZA - DAY

The police, 7.59s and Slaves and Vampires still exchange
fire. There is the sound of police sirens.

SWAT officers and vans now form a perimeter down the street
from the 7.59s.

Thom enters the plaza through a Staples Center door.

Thom takes a few steps towards the Convention Center, but
stops.

Across the plaza, the firefight wages on.

Thom frowns and turns back towards the firefight.

Thom grabs the scepter and ignites.

Thom runs into the middle of the plaza. Bullets, flying
debris, and explosions surround him.

Thom points his hand towards the 7.59s. A wall of fire
erupts from his hand.

The wall of fire continues and surrounds the 7.59s.

SWAT
Go! Move move!

VAMPIRE #1
Attack!

Thom spins around and extends his hand.

A wall of fire flies towards the Police, sealing them off.

Thom turns, shifting the wall of fire and sealing off the
Slaves and Vampires.

Thom relaxes and extinguishes.

In the Plaza, huge walls of fire separate all the combatants.

THOM
Stay put till I get back.

Thom jogs towards the Convention Center.

INT. CONVENTION CENTER - DAY

Vlad, with torn clothing, retreats in the Hall. Grigorov
chases after Vlad.

GRIGOROV
Come, Vladimir, you wished to
challenge me, did you not?

Grigorov darts forward and punches Vlad.

Vlad flies backwards and crashes through a dividing wall.

Vlad writhes on the floor as Grigorov stomps through the hole
in the wall.

Grigorov reaches down with one hand and picks up Vlad by his
vest.

GRIGOROV
You are the great basketball
player. Surely you can defeat an
old vampire.

Grigorov throws Vlad at a wall.

Vlad smashes through the wall and crashes onto the floor of
the convention hall.

Grigorov smirks and stalks after Vlad.

Vlad, looking pained, crawls away from Grigorov.

GRIGOROV
Where are you going, Vladimir?

Grigorov lifts a block of concrete and throws it.

The block of concrete smashes through some metal shutters. A
ray of sunlight enters the hall in front of Vlad.

GRIGOROV
There is nowhere left for you to
run.

Turned away from Grigorov, Vlad lifts himself up on his
hands. Vlad's eyes glow red.

Vlad darts at Grigorov and slashes at his face.

Grigorov is knocked backwards as Vlad attacks with repeated
punches.

Vlad slashes Grigorov's face, sending a shower of blood onto
the ground.

Vlad kicks Grigorov, knocking him up against a wall.

Vlad rears back.

Vlad throws a haymaker, but Grigorov blocks it.

Grigorov sneers and his eyes glow green.

Grigorov uppercuts Vlad, sending Vlad flying.

Vlad flies through the ray of sunlight. Vlad's face and
exposed skin burn.

VLAD
Ahhhh!

Grigorov wipes the blood off his face.

Grigorov looks at the blood and smiles.

Vlad lies on the ground with his face in his hands. Grigorov
moves toward Vlad.

GRIGOROV
You have fought well. You should
be proud of yourself.

Grigorov picks up Vlad.

GRIGOROV
However, like many before, your
effort is futile.

Grigorov holds Vlad in the sunlight. Vlad's skin burns.

VLAD
Ahhhh!

Grigorov throws the burning Vlad out of the sunlight.

GRIGOROV
Be proud, you will die an honorable
death.

Vlad, looking burned and ashy, pulls himself up and looks
Grigorov in the eye.

VLAD
Not like our families, who'll die
needlessly because of your plan.

Grigorov stops and looks like he's thinking.

Across the hall, Thom enters near the display of wooden logs
and looks around. Thom sees Grigorov standing over the
fallen Vlad.

GRIGOROV
This decision is my responsibility,
by reason of my victory.

Claws extend from Grigorov fingers.

GRIGOROV
Goodbye, Vladimir.

Across the hall, Thom looks around and focuses on the display
of logs.

A vortex appears on Thom's palm and he strikes the display of
logs.

The logs fall. Thom catches on log on the vortex of his
palm.

With his other hand, Thom hits the scepter. A small fireball
pops out of the scepter.

Thom swings his opposite hand and hits the fireball, causing
a boom.

The fireball grows into a cyclone of fire, propelling the log
through the air at incredible speed.

Grigorov looks over his shoulder.

The flying log strikes Grigorov in the chest, sending him
across the hall.

The flying log impales Grigorov into a concrete wall.

Then the cyclone of fire hits the impaled Grigorov, engulfing
him in flames.

Thom runs to Vlad, who looks burned and ashy.

THOM
Oh damn! Are you ok?

Vlad slowly lifts his head.

VLAD
No, but I'm doing better than him.

Impaled into a wall is the carcass of Grigorov, burned to a
crisp. The concrete wall around Grigorov is also burned
severely.

EXT. CONVENTION CENTER PLAZA - DAY

The Slaves are surrounded by a flaming wall. Suddenly, they
all hold their heads.

The Police, also surrounded by a flaming wall, suddenly hold
their heads.

INT. STAPLES CENTER - DAY

Lindsey, tied to the basketball hoop, squints and grits her
teeth.

LINDSEY
Ahhhh!

Lindsey's head slumps.

After a few seconds, Lindsey lifts her head.

Lindsey shakes her head from side to side and looks like she
has a headache.

Lindsey moves her arms and legs, but is restrained.

Lindsey looks at the basketball hoop and the arena.

LINDSEY
Why the hell am I tied up on a
basketball court?

EXT. CONVENTION CENTER PLAZA - DAY

A number of ambulances and police cars fill the street. Some
police and slaves lie on the ground with their hands on their
heads.

A few police lead handcuffed 7.59s into a wagon.

INT. STAPLES CENTER - DAY

A number of injured people lie on cots on the floor. Dozens
of paramedics assist the injured.

Vlad, with ice packs all over his body, lays on cot.

Vlad holds a bag of blood to his mouth and takes a drink.

Vlad exhales and leans back on the cot.

LINDSEY (O.S.)
So, this guy was your temporary
partner?

Vlad looks back over his shoulder. Thom and Lindsey, who
looks weary, walk toward Vlad.

Vlad smiles and lays back down.

THOM
You did a good job, Vlad. You
might just have a future in the
FBI, or maybe as a coach.

VLAD
Heh, I'd be fine with just feeling
a little less pain. Why can't
vampires regenerate as fast as
Effert?

THOM
Well, here's something to make the
time move faster.

Danny appears through the crowd and runs to Vlad.

DANNY
Daddy!

Danny grabs Vlad. Vlad cringes.

VLAD
Owwww... Sorry, son, daddy's
really beat up right now.

Vlad looks around.

VLAD
Uncle Jackson brought you here?

DANNY
Yeah, he's outside.

EXT. CONVENTION CENTER PLAZA - DAY

Jackson stands next to the burned out wreck that used to be
his SUV.

Jackson paces back and forth with his mouth agape.

Jackson bends down and touches an burned wheel.

Jackson turns the spinner on the wheel.

As the blackened spinner turns, Jackson hangs his head.

The spinner falls off the wheel and lands on the ground.

INT. STAPLES CENTER - DAY

Thom, Lindsey, and Danny surround Vlad on the cot as before.

LINDSEY
That's why I usually drive.

Vlad smiles and turns to Thom.

VLAD
Is everyone free from Grigorov's
control?

THOM
It looks that way. A bunch of
7.59s were arrested too.

VLAD
Good, but there's still a lot out
there.

THOM
It's a start. At least we won't
have to worry about Grigorov
anymore.

Vlad looks away.

THOM
He is gone, right?

VLAD
I overhead someone saying that his
body is missing.

INT. CONVENTION CENTER - DAY

A burned log is impaled into a burned concrete wall. The
outline of Grigorov's body is burned into the wall. However,
his body missing.

INT. STAPLES CENTER - DAY

Thom, Lindsey, and Danny surround Vlad as before.

THOM
Well, he got impaled and burned to
a crisp. He's gone, right?

Vlad tuns away.

THOM
Right?

VLAD
I don't know, it's not so easy to
kill a vampire lord.

INT. BELIAL'S OFFICE - NIGHT

Robert looks down at the ground. Lt. Murray walks up behind
Robert and looks down.

ROBERT
Excellent, Lt. Murray.

LT. MURRAY
Thank you, master.

Lt. Murray walks away.

Robert pours a bottle with some odd fluid into a six foot
box.

Robert squeezes a few bags of blood into the box.

Robert squeezes a few more bags of blood into the box.

Robert tosses the bags aside and takes a step back.

Robert relaxes and crosses his arms.

Suddenly, Grigorov, baring his fangs, covered in blood, and
with eyes glowing green, sits up in the box and roars.

INT/EXT. CITY STREETS - JACKSON'S SUV - DAY

Thom speeds the SUV through the streets. Thom lifts a cell
phone.

INT. BELIAL'S OFFICE - DAY

Robert sits at his desk. There is the sound of a phone
ringing.

Robert answers the phone.

ROBERT
Hello.

INTERCUT - JACKSON'S SUV AND BELIAL'S OFFICE

THOM
Hey, you might want to order your
cops to the Staples Center.

ROBERT
Oh really? Now why would I want to
do that.

THOM
Well, the coach of the Lakers was
the mastermind of the kidnapping.
So, I figure 7.59 pm's got a pretty
good presence around that area.

Robert's jaw drops.

EXT. CONVENTION CENTER PLAZA - DAY

The group of Slaves and Vampires stand near the Convention
Center. A group of cars pull up to the street.

A group of 7.59s, including the Female 7.59, carrying guns,
exit the cars.

More 7.59s, holding sheets of plywood, exit from the Staples
Center.

FEMALE 7.59
Hey, bloodsuckers, some of us don't
like being your slaves.

The 7.59s fire at the Slaves and Vampires.

Slaves and Vampires dive for cover.

Slaves and Vampires fire at the 7.59.

The 7.59 hide behind the sheets of plywood. Darts stick in
the sheets of plywood.

The Female 7.59 opens the trunk of a car, revealing a rocket
launcher.

The Female 7.59 smirks as she lifts the rocket launcher to
her shoulder.

The Female 7.59 fires the rocket at the Vampires.

INT. CONVENTION CENTER - DAY

Grigorov and Vlad stand on a walkway.

Suddenly, an explosion blows apart a section of metal shades,
sending rays of sunlight into the hall.

A ray of sunlight hits Vlad in the face, causing it to smoke.

VLAD
Ahhhhh!

Vlad covers his face and runs into the corner.

GRIGOROV
Come Vladimir, I thought you wanted
to challenge me.

Grigorov rips a large chunk of metal from the roof.

Grigorov throws the metal at Vlad, knocking his walkway off
the rafters.

Vlad's eyes glow red and he runs off his falling rafter onto
the wall.

Vlad claws the wall, thrusting his fingers into the plaster.
The plaster shatters and Vlad slides down the wall to the
floor.

The falling metal crashes onto the floor.

Vlad hits the floor next to the metal and draws his shotgun.

Vlad fires into the rafters.

Grigorov darts away from the gunfire.

EXT. CONVENTION CENTER PLAZA - DAY

The 7.59s huddle behind cover near the street and fire their
guns. The Slaves take cover near the Convention Center and
fire at the 7.59s.

A vampire lifts a chunk of concrete and throws it at the
7.59s.

7.59s dive away from a flying chunk of concrete.

The Female 7.59 lifts a rocket launcher.

There is the sound of a car racing.

The Female 7.59 turns around.

Jackson's SUV races toward the Female 7.59.

The Female 7.59 fires the rocket. The rocket strikes the
SUV, causing it to explode.

The wreckage of the SUV continues toward the Female 7.59 and
her companions.

The 7.59s dive out of the way as the SUV crashes into the
cars.

The 7.59s pick themselves off the ground.

The door to the SUV flies off.

The 7.59s look shocked as a burning Thom exits the SUV.

Thom stops burning and glares at the 7.59s. The treaty
scepter hangs on Thom's belt.

FEMALE 7.59
What are you?

THOM
I'm an Effret.

FEMALE 7.59
What the hell is that?

THOM
Let me show you.

Thom grabs the treaty scepter.

Thom is engulfed in flames.

The Female 7.59 and her companions all lift guns and open
fire at Thom.

A flaming Thom charges the 7.59s.

There is a massive explosion, destroying the Female 7.59 and
her companions.

INT. CONVENTION CENTER - DAY

Vlad, on the floor, fires up at the rafters. Sunlight enters
the across the hall.

Vlad fires repeatedly.

In the rafters, Grigorov jumps from rafter to rafter. Sparks
erupt and shower around Grigorov.

Vlad pulls the trigger, but nothing happens. Empty.

Grigorov, with eyes glowing green, jumps down from the
rafters.

Vlad runs to the side as Grigorov lands on the floor.

Vlad loads a shell into his shotgun and swings around.

Vlad fires, but Grigorov darts to the side.

Vlad rack his shotgun and aims, but as he lifts the gun,
Grigorov kicks the gun out of his hands.

The gun strikes the wall and shatters.

Grigorov moves towards Vlad.

EXT. CONVENTION CENTER - DAY

Vlad, wearing a burka and tactical gear, walks past the
Staples Center and towards the Convention center.

EXT. INDUSTRIAL BUILDING - DAY

Thom, smoking a cigarette, and Danny exit the burned
industrial building. Jackson and his bodyguards wait on the
sidewalk next to his SUV.

JACKSON
Danny man!

DANNY
Jack-son!

Danny runs to Jackson, who lifts him into his arms.

Thom, singed but healthy, draws stares from Jackson and the
others.

JACKSON
Damn, maybe you should cut down a
little?

THOM
Haha, hey, I need a car.

Jackson tosses his keys to Thom.

THOM
Thanks. Take good care of Danny,
ok?

JACKSON
Don't worry about it, you go help
Vlady.

Thom opens the door to Jackson's SUV.

JACKSON
Hey, fire-guy.

Thom stops.

JACKSON
You're a good guy, remember that.
Don't let no hate from your dad or
anyone tell you otherwise.

Thom smiles and opens his mouth.

JACKSON
Yo, get going! Vlady needs you.

THOM
Gotcha, and thanks.

Thom jumps into the SUV and peels away from the sidewalk.

INT. CONVENTION CENTER - DAY

Vlad, dressed in a burka and tactical gear, walks into the
sunlit convention hall. A display made of wooden logs is
against one wall.

Vlad pushes a button on the wall. There is a whirling noise
a metal shutters begin to lower and cover the windows.

The shade covers Vlad and he removes his hood. The shade
continues moving.

GRIGOROV (V.O.)
Why have you come, Vladimir.

Vlad spins and looks around as he speaks.

VLAD
You are turning people into your
mindless slaves. Your plan will
result in the destruction of our
people.

GRIGOROV (V.O.)
The humans must know their place.
They will soon know fear and
respect for the vampire.

VLAD
This is a new world, and we must
all know our place. We should be
in awe of the weapons of the
nations.

GRIGOROV (V.O.)
The nations cannot destroy us when
we control the nations.

VLAD
They'll kill us long before that
occurs.

GRIGOROV (V.O.)
This is not your decision.

The metal shades hit the ground with a bang.

A few hooded vampires appear out of the shadows.

Vlad draws a shotgun.

VLAD
I challenge you for the title of
Beaozaer. Show yourself, Grigorov.

Grigorov steps out from around a pillar on the ceiling. Vlad
looks up at Grigorov.

GRIGOROV
Are you certain that you desire
this challenge? You will certainly
die. Remember your family.

VLAD
My family will be dead if your plan
continues. I am sorry, but this
must end now.

Grigorov nods and turns to the Vampires.

GRIGOROV
Leave us now.

The Vampires move back into the shadows.

GRIGOROV
And carry out the plan as
instructed.

The Vampires disappear.

VLAD
The rules state that any challenges
must be observed for their
duration. The plan must be put on
hold.

GRIGOROV
As you said, this is a new world.

EXT. CONVENTION CENTER PLAZA - DAY

A small crowd of people walk about the plaza between the
convention center and the Staples Center.

The group of mind-controlled human Slaves walk amidst the
crowd. Lindsey is among the crowd of slaves.

Simultaneously, the Vampires and Slaves lift dart guns and
shoot the crowd.

The crowd grasp at the darts and fall to the ground.

Vampires move out to the unconscious people and lift their
heads. The unconscious people have glazed-over eyes.

VAMPIRE #1
Rise, slaves.

The crowd of people slowly rise to their feet.

INT. CONVENTION CENTER - DAY

Inside the darkened hall, Vlad runs up a set of stairs.
Grigorov stands in the rafters.

GRIGOROV
Come, Vladimir. You are not
scared, are you?

Vlad glares up and his eyes glow red.

Vlad's feet become shrouded.

Vlad jumps from the stairs up to the rafters, a distance of
30 feet.

Vlad crashes onto a walkway about 20 feet from Grigorov.

Grigorov sneers and his eyes glow green.

Vlad's eyes glow red. Vlad draws his shotgun and fires from
the hip.

Grigorov darts to the side, dodging the shot.

Vlad fires twice.

Grigorov leaps from rafter to rafter. Sparks fly from the
rafter and shower around Grigorov.

Grigorov hides behind a pillar.

Vlad hops to a rafter and moves laterally.

GRIGOROV
This is far from a classic
challenge.

Vlad reloads his shotgun.

VLAD
The weapons of the world make this
an even challenge. Don't you see,
they make a human the equal of a
vampire lord.

GRIGOROV
If you are correct, then I will
soon be dead.

Grigorov strikes a pole, sending it flying at Vlad.

Vlad leaps out of the way.

GRIGOROV
And I do not intend to die today.

Vlad darts to another walkway and moves away from Grigorov.

Grigorov smirks at Vlad.

INT. INDUSTRIAL BUILDING - DAY

Danny sits tied up in a chair inside a back room. The masked
Spokesman and several other henchmen stand around the room.

Outside the back room, past a hallway and around a corner,
several henchmen play cards at a table in a large room.

A few rays of sunlight enter the large room.

Danny's eyes dart around the room.

A henchman sneers at Danny.

HENCHMAN
Need some sun, bloodsucker? I
think you could use a little tan.

Danny seems nervous.

INT/EXT. CITY STREETS - DAY

Thom, dressed in tactical gear, sits inside a truck.

Thom places a cigarette into his mouth.

Thom looks out the window and nods.

Jackson's SUV sits next to Thom's car. Jackson looks out his
passenger side window and nods.

Jackson lifts an cellphone and presses a button.

Thom drives off.

INT. INDUSTRIAL BUILDING - DAY

The Spokesman and henchmen surround Danny as before. There
is a cell phone ring.

The Spokesman's face lights up as he answers his cell phone.

SPOKESMAN
Hello, sir, any word from the
bloodsuckers.

Everyone in the room turns to the Spokesman.

SPOKESMAN
Hello? I can't hear you.

The Spokesman looks at his phone.

SPOKESMAN
Hello?

Suddenly, Thom's truck crashes through the front door.

Henchmen dives about as Thom's truck smashes through
furniture and shatters glass.

Thom's truck trails debris throughout the room and it comes
to a crashing halt against a wall.

Henchmen scramble and pick up their guns.

Thom, smoking a cigarette, jumps out of the truck and fires a
sub-machine gun.

Several henchmen are cut down by gunfire.

A henchman fires a shotgun and hits Thom, knocking him to the
ground.

Thom, now bloodied, rolls and takes cover behind his truck.

Henchmen take cover and aim at Thom's truck.

Thom inhales his cigarette. Some of the wounds on Thom's
body heal.

Thom, wearing fangs in his mouth, bursts around the corner of
his truck, firing his sub-machine gun.

Several henchmen are shot down. Others dive for cover.

The Spokesman hides behind a wall.

SPOKESMAN
Damn vampire regeneration. Get the
lamps.

Several henchman turn and run into a room containing
floodlamps.

In the front room, Thom runs in a zig-zag manner through a
hail of gunfire.

Thom fires, mowing down a henchman.

Thom takes cover behind some fallen furniture.

As gunfire surrounds him, Thom puts a cigarette into his
mouth. A small flame comes out of Thom's finger, lighting
his cigarette.

Thom looks at the flame out of his finger and smiles.

Thom jumps out from his cover and fires a shotgun.

SPOKESMAN
Now!

Henchmen raise floodlights and shine bright lights at Thom.

Thom blinks his eyes a few times.

The Henchmen seem confused.

Thom fires his shotgun, shattering a floodlight and knocking
a henchman to the ground.

The Spokesman and a few henchman retreat back in the hallway.

The Spokesman runs to a gothically decorated treaty scepter
case.

Thom, bloodied and wielding a shotgun, turns into the
hallway.

Thom creeps through the hallway, looking from side to side.

Thom turns into a room, but sees nothing.

Thom creeps further down the hallway.

Thom turns down a hallway, where a henchman cowers on the
ground.

HENCHMAN
Don't shoot, don't shoot.

Thom relaxes a bit.

THOM
Turn around and put your hands on
the wall.

The henchman stands.

SPOKESMAN
I don't think so, bloodsucker.

The Spokesman stands down the hallway holding the Treaty
Scepter.

A wave of fire shoots out of the treaty scepter, engulfing
Thom.

The Spokesman and Henchmen smirk.

The wave of fire surrounds Thom, but he stands in place.

The Spokesman seems taken aback.

Thom extends his hand.

The wave of fire rockets in every direction.

EXT. INDUSTRIAL BUILDING - DAY

All the windows in a small industrial building blow outwards
followed by a small wave of fire.

INT. INDUSTRIAL BUILDING - DAY

Thom, now singed, walks through a burned hallway.

Thom steps over a few bodies.

The Treaty Scepter lays on the floor of the hallway.

Thom picks up the Treaty Scepter and tucks it into his belt.

Thom walks to the end of the hall and opens a door. Inside,
Danny sits tied in a chair.

Danny's eyes light up.

THOM
You dad asked me to take you home.

Suddenly, a shotgun blast knocks Thom off his feet.

Down the hall, a singed Spokesman sits with a smoking shotgun
in his hands.

The Spokesman struggles to his feet and pulls off his smoking
mask, revealing him to be Coach Rupalo.

Coach Rupalo fires a few more times, pumping rounds into
Thom.

Thom writhes on the ground.

COACH RUPALO
I don't know how you're not dead,
but I'm going to make sure you
fail.

Coach Rupalo tosses his shotgun aside. He reaches down and
picks up a floodlamp.

COACH RUPALO
Sorry, kid, if you can't walk in
the sun, you shouldn't be playing
on the court.

Coach Rupalo shines the floodlamp at Danny.

The light shines in Danny's face. Danny squints his eyes and
turns away from the light.

Coach Rupalo looks confused and switches the light on and off
a few times.

Danny blinks and squints.

Coach Rupalo throws the floodlamp aside and draws a pistol.

COACH RUPALO
Alright, let's see if you're
bulletproof.

Suddenly, a blast of fire knocks Coach Rupalo across the
room.

Thom, covered in flames, lays on the floor across the room.

The flames surrounding Thom subside. Thom holds the Treaty
Scepter in his hand.

Thom, now with severely burned clothes but looking healthy,
hops to his feet.

Across the room, Coach Rupalo's body smoulders.

THOM
Good thing he doesn't know that
vampire kids mature at 13.

Thom walks behind Danny and cuts the ropes with a knife.

Danny jumps out of his chair and hugs Thom tightly.

THOM
Ahhh, thank you, but come on, we
need to go help your dad.

Brethren - page 91-94

Robert blinks and frowns.

Mina looks shocked. Thom looks confused.

ROBERT
Are you certain, Vladimir?

VLAD
Yes, I challenge him for the reason
of poor leadership.

ROBERT
You realize you cannot defeat
Grigorov.

VLAD
Let me worry about that. Now where
is he?

ROBERT
Very well, he is currently in the
convention center, in the north
hall. He will be expecting you.

Vlad nods and turns away from Robert.

Mina runs up to Vlad.

MINA
What are you doing? You will be
killed!

VLAD
If I do not, we will all be killed.
The vampire nations are nothing
compared to the might of the world.

Mina grabs Vlad and sobs into his shoulder.

Vlad holds Mina.

THOM
We have to go.

Vlad nods to Thom. Vlad detaches himself from Mina.

VLAD
I will see you soon with our son.

Vlad turns and moves to the elevator, followed by Thom.

Vlad looks out the elevator and makes eye contact with Mina.

The doors close in front of Vlad and Thom.

EXT. STORAGE YARD - NIGHT

Thom drives Vlad into a storage yard.

INT. STORAGE UNIT - NIGHT

Thom and Vlad stand outside a storage unit. Thom enters a
code into a keypad.

The door opens, revealing a second door.

Thom slides a keycard into a slot. The second door opens,
revealing an armory, filled with guns and tactical gear.

Thom grabs a bulletproof vest and hands it to Vlad.

Thom and Vlad put on bulletproof vests.

THOM
You don't actually need a wooden
stake to kill vampires,do you?

VLAD
Only vampire lords, but bullets
will still mess them up pretty
good. Why?

Thom hands Vlad a box labeled, "Armor-piercing slugs."

INT/EXT. STORAGE YARD - NIGHT

Thom and Vlad, now dressed in tactical gear and armed to the
teeth, walk out into the storage yard parking lot. Vlad
wears an open burka over his tactical gear. Jackson waits in
an SUV near Thom's car.

Vlad walks to Thom's car while Thom moves to the SUV.

THOM
Good luck.

VLAD
I'm trusting my born enemy with the
safety of my son while I attack an
invincible enemy. I need way more
than luck.

JACKSON
Hey, we fight hard, we make out own
luck. I've seen you do it before,
so let's get the job done.

Thom and Vlad nod.

Thom jumps into Jackson's SUV.

Thom and Jackson wave to Vlad as they drive off.

Vlad slaps the back of Jackson's SUV.

Vlad takes a deep breath and grits his teeth. Then he throws
his hood over his head.

INT/EXT. CITY STREETS - NIGHT

Jackson's SUV drives down a street.

Vlad drives Thom's car down another street.

The sun rises, just cracking the horizon.

INT. CONVENTION CENTER - DAY

Grigorov stands in the middle of the convention hall. There
is a cell phone ring.

Grigorov answers his phone.

GRIGOROV
Yes.

Grigorov paces about with his phone on his ear. On the
ground sit several empty ceramic jars with drips of blood
down their sides.

GRIGOROV
I have more important things on my
agenda. He is merely an annoyance.

Grigorov closes his phone.

Grigorov holds a syringe dart filled with a blood.

Grigorov loads the dart into a gun.

Grigorov moves to a vampire, wearing a burka, and hands him
the gun.

Grigorov continues moving through the convention hall,
passing a number of burka-clad vampires holding guns.

A vampire fills a gun with compressed air from a tank.

A mass of gun-wielding humans, including Lindsey, fill the
hall.

Grigorov smiles.

Brethren - page 89-91

INT. BELIAL'S OFFICE - NIGHT

Mina sits at Robert's desk and types on the computer. Thom
and Vlad stand around Mina.

MINA
Robert was acting strange, so I
looked around and found this.

The computer screen shows a spreadsheet.

One line is highlighted - "G-Blood storage. Moved 5,
remaining 0."

VLAD
All of it...

Vlad leans back and takes a deep breath.

Thom gives Vlad a confused look.

MINA
This is Grigorov's blood, storage
which has been kept for decades.

THOM
But why would he need his own
blood.

INT. WAREHOUSE - OFFICE - DAY

Several vampires stab syringes filled with red fluid into the
necks of tied-up 7.59s.

The tied-up people shudder and their eyes become glazed over.

INT. BELIAL'S OFFICE - MOMENTS LATER

Mina seated, Thom and Vlad standing as before.

THOM
Oh my god.

Vlad and Mina look at the ground.

MINA
I also overheard Robert ordering
his men to move to a location on
Figueroa. Is that a rescue?

VLAD
That is nowhere near where they are
holding our son.

THOM
No, but it is near something else.

EXT. STAPLES CENTER - DAY

The Staples Center is in the background. A street sign in
the foreground reads, "Figueroa."

INT. BELIAL'S OFFICE - NIGHT

Mina seated, Vlad and Thom standing as before.

THOM
How many people can Grigorov
control with that much blood.

VLAD
I don't know. Thousands, maybe.
But what about my son?

THOM
If he's like what we studied in
school, he'll let him die as a
martyr.

Vlad and Mina look shocked.

VLAD
Is this true, Robert?

Robert emerges from the shadows. Thom takes a defensive
posture.

ROBERT
Excellent observation, Vladimir.

VLAD
How long have you known about this?

ROBERT
I am the Belial, I know everything,

Vlad walks toward Robert.

VLAD
You would put my son at risk for
your gains.

ROBERT
I would put any one at risk for the
good of vampires. But this venture
is Grigorov's, he has his own
autonomy as Beaozaer.

Vlad paces.

VLAD
So where is Grigorov.

ROBERT
That I am not at liberty to say.
As I said, he possesses his own
autonomy.

Vlad looks back to Mina. Mina seems nervous.

VLAD
Then I submit my challenge for his
authority.

INT. RESTAURANT - MINUTES LATER

The suits sit handcuffed in the middle of the room. Vlad,
holding a shotgun, paces around them. However, only the
White Suit seems ok, the others are slumped over.

VLAD
Ok, who wants to tell me where my
son's being held?

Mr. McAnn, with a bloody chest, is handcuffed on a chair in
the corner. Thom stuffs a lit cigarette into Mr. McAnn's
mouth.

MR. MCANN
I can't believe you shot me.

THOM
You'll be fine. Consider it
payback for the time your 7.59
buddies shot me.

Vlad begins tapping the shotgun into his hand.

VLAD
Come on, I'm not hearing any
answers.

WHITE SUIT
You're never getting anything out
of me you damn bloodsucker. You
might as well kill me now.

Vlad draws closer to the White Suit.

VLAD
Oh really?

WHITE SUIT
Go ahead, I'm not afraid of you.

Vlad pulls back and nods.

VLAD
Yeah, I figured that, so I called a
few of my friends.

Suddenly, Jackson and a few large, Black bodyguards burst
through the door.

JACKSON
Yo, Vlad, this the fucking racist.

Vlad nods.

JACKSON (CONT'D)
Well, it's time to show him what we
like to do to racists in the
ghetto.

The White Suit cringes.

EXT. RESTAURANT - NIGHT

Vlad and Thom stand next to a tied up Mr. McAnn who smokes a
cigarette on the sidewalk. Jackson and his bodyguards exit.

Jackson hands Vlad a piece of paper.

JACKSON
Got it. He squealed like a little
bitch.

VLAD
Nice. Although, I am kind of
disturbed that he's more afraid of
a black man than a vampire.

JACKSON
Hey, what can you say, I'm from the
street.

VLAD
Aren't you from Orange County?

Jackson smiles and holds his finger to his lips.

Thom lights a cigarette and places it into Mr. McAnn's mouth.

THOM
You should heal up before daylight.
That should give you enough time to
clean up. You can call the cops on
us if you want, but you'll have a
lot more questions to answer than
us.

MR. MCANN
I still can't believe you're
working with our enemy.

THOM
I didn't want to believe you were
7.59.

MR. MCANN
We share a common enemy, why
wouldn't they be my friends. Look
at that bloodsucker. In the old
days, there would be nothing but
hate between you.

Thom takes a step away.

MR. MCANN (CONT'D)
That's what a real son of mine
would feel.

Thom turns around and glares Mr. McAnn in the eyes.

THOM
You want to know what I hate?

MR. MCANN
Yes, everything I stand for and
believe.

THOM
No, I hate myself.

Mr. McAnn seems taken aback.

THOM (CONT'D)
You don't know how many night I
cried, praying that I could just be
like everyone else.

Thom turns around and dries a tear from his eye.

THOM (CONT'D)
Well, I can't. All I can do the
right thing.
(to Vlad and Jackson)
Come on.

Thom storms away.

Vlad and Jackson, both shocked, follow Thom.

Mr. McAnn slumps his head.

INT. BELIAL'S OFFICE - NIGHT

Mina creeps into the room and looks from side to side. The
room appears empty.

Mina hurries to Robert's desk.

Mina sits on the chair and begins searching through the
papers.

EXT. POLICE STATION - ENTRANCE - NIGHT

Thom drives Vlad to the front of the police station. Thom
exits, followed by Vlad.

VLAD
Why aren't we rescuing my son?

THOM
They could have a lot of men. We
could use a SWAT team.

Vlad pauses a second, and then nods.

Thom walks toward the entrance.

Suddenly, Vlad grabs Thom's shoulder.

VLAD
Something's not right. Look at the
officers.

A few Police enter the Police Station. The Police focus
straight ahead, not looking to either side.

VLAD (CONT'D)
I think they're...

LT. MURRAY (O.S.)
Hello, Agent McAnn.

Thom and Vlad turn to see Lt. Murray standing behind them.
Lt. Murray has a glazed over look in his eye.

LT. MURRAY (CONT'D)
What brings you to my station
tonight.

Thom eyes dart left.

THOM
We were going to check the video
again. Maybe we missed something.

LT. MURRAY
Our best people are working on

(to Vlad)

VLAD
Alright, but tell me if you hear
anything.

LT. MURRAY
You can wait inside if you want.

VLAD
Alright, thank you.

Lt. Murray nods and walks to the entrance.

Vlad pulls Thom behind their car.

VLAD (CONT'D)
He's under a vampire's control!
All of them are! This is getting

THOM

A cell phone buzzes. Vlad lifts his cell phone, which reads,
"1 Text Message from Mina."

Vlad presses the buttons on his cellphone. As he reads, Vlad
grits his teeth.

VLAD
