The Weather Girl - pages 5-8

INT. TAYLOR AND HUDSON - DAY

A marquee on the wall reads, "Taylor and Hudson." The office
is composed of a number of cubicles. Carrie sits in a
cubicle filled with small, cute trinkets. A nameplate on the
desk reads, "Carrie Atherton."

Carrie hold the phone to her ear.

After a few seconds, Carrie hangs up and shakes her head.

Carrie begins shuffling a stack of papers.

DOUG (40), with slicked back hair, walks to Carrie's cubicle
and leans on the wall.

DOUG
Hello there.

CARRIE
Hey, you.

SARAH (40), plain looking, peeks around at corner at Doug
with a look of distrust.

DOUG
Just wanted to congratulate you on
an excellent presentation today.

Carrie looks down with a little smile.

CARRIE
Why thank you.

EXT. CITY STREETS - DAY

Leonard walks down the street. Leonard hits a patch of
sunlight and stops.

Leonard looks up at the sky.

The clouds in the sky disperse, revealing patches of blue
sky.

Leonard gives the sky a perplexed look as the street grows
brighter around him.

Leonard raises his hand to shade the sun.

Leonard continues looking at the sky.

All around Leonard, people walk about. Only Leonard seems
perplexed.

The day becomes sunny, with deep blue skies.

INT. BARKER'S OFFICE - DAY

Barker and Leonard sit around the desk. Leonard's arms and
legs are crossed.

BARKER
Thank you for coming in for a
second interview.

LEONARD
Well, thank you for this
opportunity.

Barker leans back and looks out the window.

BARKER
Crazy weather we've been having,
eh?

LEONARD
Mitch Hedberg would say, 'Perhaps
it's only our perception of the
weather.'

BARKER
Well, what would you say.

Leonard uncrosses his arms and leans back.

LEONARD
I don't know, but something doesn't
seem right. Maybe it's global
warming or the ozone layer, but
something's really off.

Barker nods.

BARKER
Ok, I think we're good.

LEONARD
Excuse me.

Barker picks up some papers and flips through them as he
speaks.

BARKER
Talk to my secretary, she'll have
some papers for you.

LEONARD
Wha... what?

BARKER
You got the job, see you tomorrow.

LEONARD
But I need to give notice and...

BARKER
Taken care of, see you tomorrow.

Leonard blinks a few times.

Leonard, looking confused, stands and walks to the exit.

Barker continues flipping through papers.

INT. LEONARD'S APARTMENT - NIGHT

Leonard, dressed in a t-shirt and shorts, sits at his dining
table. Take out containers are scattered about the room. A
stack of papers sits in front of Leonard.

Leonard picks up the first paper. The letter head reads,
"United Stated Department of Homeland Security - Security
Clearance."

Leonard sighs and begins filling out the paper.
