INT. LEONARD'S APARTMENT - BEDROOM - DAY
The skies outside are cloudy at dawn. Carrie lies on
Leonard's bed.
Carrie stirs and opens her eyes.
Carrie looks about with a confused expression.
Carrie smiles a little.
Carrie, wearing the same bathrobe, gets up out of bed.
Carrie looks at the bathroom door. Carrie's clothes are hung
up on hangers attached to the bathroom door.
INT. LEONARD'S APARTMENT - DAY
Carrie pokes her head out of the bedroom. Leonard lays on
the couch.
There is the sound of snoring.
Carrie leans against the door frame.
A clock reads 6:00.
Outside, the clouds thin out, revealing patches of blue sky.
INT. LEONARD'S APARTMENT - DAY
Leonard lays on the couch as before. The clock reads 7:00.
A ray of sunlight hits Leonard on the face.
Leonard stirs and squints his eyes.
Leonard sits up and looks around.
LEONARD
Carrie?
Leonard sees a paper on a table.
Leonard stands and walks to the table.
Leonard reads the paper.
CARRIE (V.O.)
Hey, Leonard. Thanks for
everything. I didn't want to wake
you, but I really appreciate
everything you did. I'll talk to
you soon. Carrie.
Leonard smiles.
CARRIE (V.O.)
P.S. I stole some of your clothes.
Mine are still soaked.
EXT. CITY STREETS - DAY
Carrie, wearing a sweats that are way too big for her, walks
through the streets. People dressed in suits walk around
her. It is currently sunny, with a few clouds in the sky.
Carrie looks up at the sky and smiles.
The clouds in the sky disappear.
Carrie walks through a crowd of suits. The suits focus on
newspapers or other papers and ignore Carrie.
Carrie smiles from ear to ear and walks down the street.
INT. LEONARD'S APARTMENT - DAY
Leonard, now dressed business casual, checks the hangers that
hold Carrie's clothes.
There is the sound of Leonard's cellphone.
Leonard looks at his phone. It reads, you have one text
message.
Leonard pushes a button. The cellphone reads, "Get here
quick, Barker."
Leonard dashes out of the room.
INT. BARKER'S OFFICE - DAY
Leonard sits across the desk from Barker.
BARKER
What were you thinking?
LEONARD
Nothing happened, sir. She slept
on the bed, I slept on the couch.
It was completely innocent.
BARKER
Completely innocent? Then how do
you explain this.
Barker throws a report at Leonard.
Leonard opens the report.
Leonard looks at Barker with a look of bewilderment.
LEONARD
But... but...
INT. TAYLOR AND HUDSON - DAY
Carrie, dressed in Leonard's sweats, sits at her cubicle.
Carrie types on her keyboard.
The monitor shows, "I, Carrie Atherton, hereby submit my two
weeks notice for my resignation."
The printer next to Carrie's computer starts printing a page.
Carrie pulls the paper out of the printer. Carrie reads the
paper and smiles.
Carrie signs the paper.
Carrie, holding the paper, stands and exits her cubicle.
Taylor walks toward Carrie.
Taylor gives Carrie a mocking stare and gesture.
TAYLOR
Look at you.
Carrie hands the paper to Taylor.
CARRIE
Here. I'm taking the day off.
Taylor looks at the paper as Carrie walks away from him.
TAYLOR
Wait, hold on.
Carrie continues walking away from Taylor.
Doug enters and gives Carrie an arrogant look.
DOUG
Hey, Carrie.
CARRIE
No, I don't think we're talking
anymore.
Carrie looks away from Doug and walks directly past him.
The skies outside are bright and sunny.
INT. BARKER'S OFFICE - DAY
Barker and Leonard as before.
BARKER
That was pretty unexpected. How
sure are you that you had
absolutely nothing to do with this?
LEONARD
I'll, uh, find her immediately and
we'll figure this out.
Leonard stands and runs out the door.
Barker sighs.
Barker lifts his phone.
BARKER
Get ready for a plan B.

There you go.
There is the sound of a phone hanging up.
Leonard gives his phone a confused look.
There is the sound of a doorbell.
Leonard walks to the front door.
Leonard opens the door, revealing Carrie, who is soaking wet
and looks miserable.
Leonard dashes to Carrie and takes the towel from around his
shoulders and puts it around Carrie.
LEONARD
Carrie! I've been trying to find
you? Come in.
Leonard slowly ushers Carrie into his apartment. Carrie
trudges along, her expression still miserable and eyes off in
the distance.
LEONARD
Sit down. We'll get you dried off
a bit.
Carrie, expression unchanged, sits down on the couch.
Leonard runs out of the room.
Carrie, expression unchanged, slides down sideways and lays
on the couch on her side.
Leonard walks back into the room with a stack of towels.
LEONARD
Ok, let's get you dried off.
Leonard sets down the towels and unfolds one.
Carrie lays motionless on the couch.
LEONARD
Uh, Carrie?
CARRIE
Urrrr...
Leonard sits next to Carrie and lifts her back into a seated
position.
LEONARD
Up, up, up. Here...
Leonard puts a towel over Carrie's head. Carrie sits
motionless with a towel over her head.
Leonard bites his lip.
LEONARD
Come on, you're not dead.
CARRIE
Yes, I am. I'm dead.
LEONARD
No, you're not.
Leonard puts Carrie's arm over his shoulder and stands her
up.
LEONARD
Stand up, time to get dry and warm.

get pneumonia.
Leonard half-drags Carrie into the bedroom.

LEONARD
Whew.
Carrie, dressed in a bathrobe and drying her hair with a

Hey, how're you feeling?

to end it anyway.
LEONARD
So, I guess this takes care of it.
CARRIE
Yeah, but I'm still mad at him.
Carrie and Leonard make eye contact. Leonard looks confused.
CARRIE
I know, I'm lame, I have issues.
LEONARD
You think you have issues. At

fire escape into an alley.
Carrie seems confused.
LEONARD
I'll... tell you sometime. Long
story.
Carrie lays back on the bed.
CARRIE
I never thought I'd be like this,

crying over some idiot who just
wants a piece of ass.
Carrie curls into a ball.
Leonard walks over and sits down next to Carrie.
Leonard gives Carrie a confused look.
Leonard takes a deep breath.
LEONARD
You shouldn't say that. You're a
beautiful girl and a great person.
Any guy would be lucky to have a
girl anywhere as nice as you. Doug
doesn't deserve someone like you.
He deserves exactly what he's
getting, which will hopefully
require a shot of penicillin.
Leonard gives Carrie an unsure smile.
Carrie stays motionless.
Leonard's eyes dart from side to side.
LEONARD

CARRIE
Cancelled.
They pause a second and look about.
LEONARD
You know, it's a long game. Want
to grab some coffee first?
CARRIE
Sure. I'll take coffee over

SARAH
Huh...
LEONARD
She chats with me a lot at night
though, you know, online.
SARAH
Oh yeah, she asked for your ID
and...
Sarah turns to Leonard and grabs his shoulder.
SARAH (CONT'D)
Wait, a lot like everynight.
LEONARD
Yeah, I guess so.
SARAH
Well, shouldn't she be doing that
with Doug, you know, her boyfriend?
LEONARD
Uh... I don't know. Are they
calling themselves boyfriend
girlfriend now?
SARAH
I don't know. You seem to be her
girlfriend now.
Leonard seems taken aback.
Agent Bob walks past Leonard. Sarah grabs Agent Bob.
SARAH (CONT'D)
Hey, what would you say if I told
you that Lenny here chats with our
girl every night.
Agent Bob looks over Leonard.
AGENT BOB
Hmmm. Well, she's Carrie. You
don't seem like a Samantha, so I'm
trying to decide if you'd be
Charlotte or Miranda.
Leonard shakes his head and steps away.
Agent Bob and Sarah laugh.

The bartender walks back to Doug and Carrie's table.

Leonard stands in front of a mirror and buttons a shirt. The
morning weather report plays in the background.

casual.

great.

Come on, you two. I have work to
do.

Leonard, Sarah, and Carrie sit at a table in a crowded,
casual restaurant. Their plates show a completed meal. The
skies outside are drizzling.
The waiter walks up to the table.
WAITER
Can I interest any of you in some
dessert?
CARRIE
Oh no...
LEONARD
Hey, for all the help you gave me,
the least I can do if buy you some
dessert.
CARRIE
Hehe, well, ok, what do you have
with some chocolate?
WAITER
We have the triple chocolate
devil's delight. It's a chocolate
chip, chocolate torte with
chocolate syrup and shavings.
Carrie's eyes light up.
Leonard looks at Carrie and starts to chuckle.
CARRIE
I'll take one of those please.
WAITER
An excellent choice.
The waiter walks away.
Carrie glares at Leonard, who is laughing.
CARRIE
What? Can't a girl have a little
chocolate?
LEONARD
A little, sure, but you're liable
to OD on that. You know,
chocolate's not a food, it's a
drug.
CARRIE
You don't have to worry, I've been
building up my tolerance for years.
Sarah rolls her eyes.
SARAH
Excuse me for a minute.
Sarah stands and walks away.
Carrie turns and watches Sarah walk away. Then Carrie turns
back to Leonard with a mischievous grin.
CARRIE
Ok, it's just me here, and I won't
tell. Where'd you work before?
LEONARD
Uh, wait, what?
CARRIE
Oh come on, your presentation was
way too good for a first timer.
You're a whiz from somewhere else,
right?
LEONARD
Haha, no, but.
CARRIE
But?
LEONARD
Ok, let's just say, I had a little
help.
Carrie laughs and slaps the table.
CARRIE
I knew it!
LEONARD
But, uh, you thought I was a whiz
from some other place.
CARRIE
Oh, close enough. I knew it had to
be something. Let me guess, you
had your girlfriend help you?
LEONARD
Nope, no girlfriend. I had a few
guys help out though.
Carrie looks to the side and smiles.
The waiter walks to their table and sets down a piece of
chocolate cake. It appears decadent.
WAITER
Here you are.
CARRIE
Oh, thank you!
Carrie snatches a fork and takes a bite.
Carrie smiles and her eyes roll back in her head.
CARRIE (CONT'D)
Mmmmmm....
LEONARD
You sure you're not addicted or
something.
CARRIE
Hey, back off. Get your own piece.
Carrie and Leonard both chuckle.
Outside, the sun is shining.
INT. TAYLOR AND HUDSON - HALLWAY - DAY
Leonard and Carrie, both giggling, walk down the hallway.
Doug glares at them as they walk away from him.
Sarah walks towards Doug.
DOUG
Hey, Sarah.
SARAH
Yo.
DOUG
How's the McMann project coming
along?
SARAH
It's hellish.
DOUG
Why don't you let the new guy
handle it. I'm sure you can find a
better use for your time.
Doug winks at Sarah and walks down the hall.
Sarah nods and looks to the side.
INT. HOMELAND SECURITY - DAY
Sarah, Agent Bob, and Leonard sit in a room.
LEONARD
He did what? Oh, let's get it on!
AGENT BOB
You do remember that your main
concern is Ms. Atherton.
LEONARD
Yeah, but I screwed her out of a
promotion. The least I can do is
help her advance.
SARAH
There's no spots available. How're
you going to promote her?
LEONARD
Easy, she can have Doug's job.
Leonard grins.
AGENT BOB
You sure we didn't get you from the
CIA?
Leonard stands in front of a mirror and buttons a shirt. The
morning weather report plays in the background.
WEATHERMAN
(muffled)
Looks like that freak storm
yesterday was exactly that. Today
seems a little cloudy, with
scarttered showers.
Leonard smooths out his shirt. He is now dressed business
casual.
INT. TAYLOR AND HUDSON - DAY
Leonard walks down the hallway. The skies outside the window
are cloudy and rain drizzles.
Leonard stops at Carrie's cubicle, where she looks down at
some papers. Leonard knocks on the cubicle.
Carrie looks up and smiles.
CARRIE
Hi Leonard. Good job again
yesterday.
LEONARD
Thanks, but I came over to thank
you for your help. I couldn't have
done it without you.
CARRIE
Oh, come on. I really didn't do
anything.
LEONARD
No, you really helped me a lot.
Sarah walks down the hall behind Leonard.
LEONARD (CONT'D)
(to Sarah)
Hey, did you know that Carrie's
great? I couldn't have done that
presentation yesterday without her.
Carrie blushes.
SARAH
Eh, she paid for drinks last
weekend. I guess she's pretty
great.
Carrie smiles from ear to ear.
CARRIE
Come on, you two. I have work to
do.
LEONARD
Ok, ok. But thank you again.
SARAH
Hey, why don't you join us for
lunch later?
LEONARD
Sounds good.
Leonard notices a picture of Carrie standing in front of the
Space Needle. A piece of paper covers half the picture.
LEONARD (CONT'D)
Hey, the Space Needle.
Leonard turns and walks down the hallway.
Leonard goes around a corner and smiles broadly.
Leonard looks out the window. The skies are now raining
harder.
Leonard seems confused.

The Weather Girl - pages 20-25
EXT. CITY STREETS - DAY
Leonard struts down the sunny street with confidence.
Leonard smiles at a few women walking the opposite direction.
The women smile back.
Leonard strides to a hot dog cart, where the Vendor stands.
VENDOR
Hey, Leonard, you look happy.
LEONARD
And why wouldn't I? It's a
beautiful day.
AGENT BOB (O.S.)
Not for long.
Leonard turns to see Agent Bob walking past him. Agent Bob
holds a cell phone to his ear.
AGENT BOB (CONT'D)
You might want to get inside.
Agent Bob hangs up his cell phone and continues down the
street.
The Vendor hands Leonard a hot dog with mustard.
Leonard reaches for the ketchup, but it moves out of reach.
The Vendor starts pushing the cart down the street.
Leonard, holding the hot dog, looks up and down the street.
The skies appear sunny.
Suddenly, a gust of wind knocks Leonard sideways.
The hot dog falls off the bun and land on the concrete in a
splash of mustard. Leonard's shoes and pants are now dotted
with yellow.
LEONARD
Aww, jeez...
Leonard reaches down to clean his pants.
The scene grows darker as another gust of wind sends a
trashbag flying behind Leonard.
Leonard slowly looks up at the sky.
The sky is now dark and filled with foreboding clouds.
A bolt of lighting streaks across the sky.
Leonard looks worried and he starts running down the street.
Rain begins to fall.
Leonard runs past a number of people who cover their heads
and scamper into buildings.
EXT. GOVERNMENT BUILDING - DAY
Leonard, now soaked, runs around the corner to the government
building. As Leonard moves to the door, the rain stops.
Leonard stops and holds out his hand.
A snowflake lands in his hand.
Leonard looks to the sky and sees a flurry of snowflakes
descend.
People around look at the sky and point at the snow, but
Leonard looks worried.
Leonard dashes into the building.
INT. HOMELAND SECURITY - DAY
Leonard, soaking wet, enters through the front door. The
receptionist looks surprised.
RECEPTIONIST
Oh wow.
Leonard tromps past the Receptionist.
Leonard walks to a series of desks.
LEONARD
What's going on? Can anyone get me
some info?
Leonard stops.
Sarah sits in a chair and smirks.
SARAH
Surprised to see me?
LEONARD
Well, uh...
Sarah stands and begins walking.
SARAH
You shouldn't be. We've got Carrie
covered from the moment she wakes
up to the minutes she's asleep.
Leonard chases after Sarah.
LEONARD
But, then why am I here? And what
happened? It seemed good a few
minutes ago.
INT. RESEARCH ROOM - DAY
Sarah enters the room followed by Leonard.
SARAH
Sit down.
Leonard takes a seat.
SARAH (CONT'D)
This little display of weather is
all thanks to you.
LEONARD
Me?
SARAH
Yeah, I guess you could say that
your presentation went a little too
well.
INT. TAYLOR AND HUDSON - DAY
Taylor and Doug walk towards each other in the hallway
between the cubicles. Taylor nods to Doug.
TAYLOR
Hey, where'd we find the new guy?
DOUG
I don't know, but he's got the
skills.
Taylor nods. Then Taylor leans in and whispers.
TAYLOR
You know the assistant VP position?
DOUG
Yeah, we're grooming Carrie for
that spot.
TAYLOR
Let's think about that one.
Doug nods.
Taylor and Doug head down the hallway in different
directions.
Carrie pokes her head out of a cubicle and into the hallway.
Carrie hangs her head.
Carrie sniffs and wipes a single tear off her face.
Sarah, frowning, looks over the cubicle divider at Carrie.
INT. RESEARCH ROOM - DAY
Sarah sits across from Leonard, who's mouth hangs open.
LEONARD
But, I didn't know...
SARAH
It doesn't matter really, she'll
calm down in a bit and we needed
some rain anyway. Just be a little
more careful.
Sarah turns to the door.
LEONARD
Wait. If you guys are always
around her, why am I here?
Sarah turns back towards Leonard.
SARAH
We saw what you did with your Wall
Street predictions, and even though
you cheated a bit, we figured you'd
be the best man to play point for
us.
Leonard's jaw drops.
SARAH (CONT'D)
Surprised? Hey, if a person takes
a crap and looks right, it's our
job to ask why he didn't look left.
Sarah exits the room.
EXT. HOMELAND SECURITY - DAY
Leonard slumps out into the snowy street. Children play in
the snow all around the street. The snow seems a couple
inches thick. A boombox sits near the children. Snow sits
on awnings by the street.
RADIO DJ (V.O.)
Crazy weather we've been having. A
freak storm just dropped a few
inches of snow over downtown. Then
again, this was a warm winter.
Maybe mother nature's just evening
things out.
Leonard stops and turns toward the boombox.
Suddenly, the snow slides off one of the awnings.
The snow falls and lands on Leonard, covering him with snow.
The children look at Leonard and laugh.
Leonard slumps and begins dusting the snow off of himself.
RADIO DJ (CONT'D)
But hey, I've always said that if
