EXT. CITY STREETS - DAY
Leonard struts down the sunny street with confidence.
Leonard smiles at a few women walking the opposite direction.
The women smile back.
Leonard strides to a hot dog cart, where the Vendor stands.
VENDOR
Hey, Leonard, you look happy.
LEONARD
And why wouldn't I? It's a
beautiful day.
AGENT BOB (O.S.)
Not for long.
Leonard turns to see Agent Bob walking past him. Agent Bob
holds a cell phone to his ear.
AGENT BOB (CONT'D)
You might want to get inside.
Agent Bob hangs up his cell phone and continues down the
street.
The Vendor hands Leonard a hot dog with mustard.
Leonard reaches for the ketchup, but it moves out of reach.
The Vendor starts pushing the cart down the street.
Leonard, holding the hot dog, looks up and down the street.
The skies appear sunny.
Suddenly, a gust of wind knocks Leonard sideways.
The hot dog falls off the bun and land on the concrete in a
splash of mustard. Leonard's shoes and pants are now dotted
with yellow.
LEONARD
Aww, jeez...
Leonard reaches down to clean his pants.
The scene grows darker as another gust of wind sends a
trashbag flying behind Leonard.
Leonard slowly looks up at the sky.
The sky is now dark and filled with foreboding clouds.
A bolt of lighting streaks across the sky.
Leonard looks worried and he starts running down the street.
Rain begins to fall.
Leonard runs past a number of people who cover their heads
and scamper into buildings.
EXT. GOVERNMENT BUILDING - DAY
Leonard, now soaked, runs around the corner to the government
building. As Leonard moves to the door, the rain stops.
Leonard stops and holds out his hand.
A snowflake lands in his hand.
Leonard looks to the sky and sees a flurry of snowflakes
descend.
People around look at the sky and point at the snow, but
Leonard looks worried.
Leonard dashes into the building.
INT. HOMELAND SECURITY - DAY
Leonard, soaking wet, enters through the front door. The
receptionist looks surprised.
RECEPTIONIST
Oh wow.
Leonard tromps past the Receptionist.
Leonard walks to a series of desks.
LEONARD
What's going on? Can anyone get me
some info?
Leonard stops.
Sarah sits in a chair and smirks.
SARAH
Surprised to see me?
LEONARD
Well, uh...
Sarah stands and begins walking.
SARAH
You shouldn't be. We've got Carrie
covered from the moment she wakes
up to the minutes she's asleep.
Leonard chases after Sarah.
LEONARD
But, then why am I here? And what
happened? It seemed good a few
minutes ago.
INT. RESEARCH ROOM - DAY
Sarah enters the room followed by Leonard.
SARAH
Sit down.
Leonard takes a seat.
SARAH (CONT'D)
This little display of weather is
all thanks to you.
LEONARD
Me?
SARAH
Yeah, I guess you could say that
your presentation went a little too
well.
INT. TAYLOR AND HUDSON - DAY
Taylor and Doug walk towards each other in the hallway
between the cubicles. Taylor nods to Doug.
TAYLOR
Hey, where'd we find the new guy?
DOUG
I don't know, but he's got the
skills.
Taylor nods. Then Taylor leans in and whispers.
TAYLOR
You know the assistant VP position?
DOUG
Yeah, we're grooming Carrie for
that spot.
TAYLOR
Let's think about that one.
Doug nods.
Taylor and Doug head down the hallway in different
directions.
Carrie pokes her head out of a cubicle and into the hallway.
Carrie hangs her head.
Carrie sniffs and wipes a single tear off her face.
Sarah, frowning, looks over the cubicle divider at Carrie.
INT. RESEARCH ROOM - DAY
Sarah sits across from Leonard, who's mouth hangs open.
LEONARD
But, I didn't know...
SARAH
It doesn't matter really, she'll
calm down in a bit and we needed
some rain anyway. Just be a little
more careful.
Sarah turns to the door.
LEONARD
Wait. If you guys are always
around her, why am I here?
Sarah turns back towards Leonard.
SARAH
We saw what you did with your Wall
Street predictions, and even though
you cheated a bit, we figured you'd
be the best man to play point for
us.
Leonard's jaw drops.
SARAH (CONT'D)
Surprised? Hey, if a person takes
a crap and looks right, it's our
job to ask why he didn't look left.
Sarah exits the room.
EXT. HOMELAND SECURITY - DAY
Leonard slumps out into the snowy street. Children play in
the snow all around the street. The snow seems a couple
inches thick. A boombox sits near the children. Snow sits
on awnings by the street.
RADIO DJ (V.O.)
Crazy weather we've been having. A
freak storm just dropped a few
inches of snow over downtown. Then
again, this was a warm winter.
Maybe mother nature's just evening
things out.
Leonard stops and turns toward the boombox.
Suddenly, the snow slides off one of the awnings.
The snow falls and lands on Leonard, covering him with snow.
The children look at Leonard and laugh.
Leonard slumps and begins dusting the snow off of himself.
RADIO DJ (CONT'D)
But hey, I've always said that if
there's anything you know about the
weather, it's that the weatherman's
always wrong.
