The Weather Girl - pages 45-50

INT. BARKER'S OFFICE - DAY

Leonard and Barker sit around his desk. The skies behind
Barker are sunny.

BARKER
Your report says that this Doug guy
is trouble.

LEONARD
Yes, sir.

BARKER
And your little shenanigans last
night just accidentally pushed
Carrie into his arms.

LEONARD
But, that wasn't my intention...

BARKER
But, it happened.

Leonard hangs his head.

BARKER (CONT'D)
Alright, Leonard, get out there and
fix this.

Leonard looks up with a confused look.

INT. HOMELAND SECURITY - DAY

Barker and Leonard walk through the office.

BARKER
Look, you're not being fired, you
just made a mistake.

LEONARD
But, I thought this was vital to
the survival of the world and all
that?

BARKER
Take a look.

Barker points to the window. It is partially cloudy.

BARKER (CONT'D)
Don't see any tornados wrecking the
city, do you?

Leonard seems to relax.

Across the office, Agent Bob holds up a telephone and looks
at Barker.

Barker shakes his head.

Agent Bob hangs up the telephone.

BARKER (CONT'D)
So, go out and do your job.

LEONARD
Alright, I won't let you down.

BARKER
If you do, you'd better buy me a
boat.

Leonard smiles and exits.

Agent Bob makes eye contact with Barker.

Barker shrugs.

INT. TAYLOR AND HUDSON - DAY

Carrie walks through the cubicles. Doug walks up to Carrie
and touches her back.

Carrie giggles.

DOUG
How's my little flower?

CARRIE
Very well, and you?

Leonard peeks out from his cubicle and watches Doug and
Carrie.

Carrie eyes turn away from Doug for a moment.

The skies outside are partially cloudy.

INT. LEONARD'S APARTMENT - NIGHT

Leonard sits in front of his laptop computer. A television
to the side shows the weather report.

WEATHERMAN
(muffled)
And the forecast for the week is
partially cloudy all through the
weekend. Not too exciting, but
cool and comfortable.

Leonard stands and walks to the TV remote, sitting on a
couch.

The TV turns off.

Leonard takes a step. There is the bling sound of a chat
window on a computer.

Leonard walks back to his laptop. The screen shows a window,
"CAR1BER1 is sending you a message. Accept?"

Leonard clicks on, "Accept."

The window opens and shows the message, "Hi Leonard, this is
Carrie, from work. I got your SN from Sarah, hope it's ok."

Leonard looks confused as he types, "Uh ok. What's going
on?"

INT. CARRIE'S APARTMENT - NIGHT

Carrie lays on her bed, under her blanket, with her laptop in
front of her. The bedsheets are floral and girly stuff
clutters the room. Carrie seem tired. Her laptop has a chat
window open with, "YounglenNerd."

Carrie types, "I don't know, I can't sleep."

INTERCUT LEONARD'S APARTMENT AND CARRIE'S APARTMENT

Leonard types, "Something on your mind?"

Carrie types, "Well, um."

Leonard sits up straight.

Carrie holds her head.

CARRIE
Oh, why not.

Carrie types furiously.

Leonard's chat window is overwhelmed by the amount of words.
Leonard maximizes the chat window and reads, "You saw me and
Doug today, and I know how gossip travels at work. You
didn't look too happy to see us together, and I understand,
Doug isn't the nicest guy sometimes. But, you know how
things happen, and I don't know, maybe I was lonely, and I
don't know. But things happens, and now afterwards, I don't
know."

Leonard types, "uh..."

Carrie types, "I'm not making any sense, am I?"

Leonard types and smiles.

Carrie's chatbox reads, "Well, the only part I understood
was, "I'm not making any sense, am I?"

Carrie laughs.

Leonard's chatbox reads, ":)".

Leonard types, "Smiles are good. So what are you doing now?"

Carrie eats a piece of chocolate as she types.

Leonard's chatbox reads, "Just wrapped in my blanket, eating
chocolate..."

Leonard types, "Heh, so you're like in a crepe."

Carrie looks confused. Carrie types, "A crepe?"

Carrie's chatbox reads, "Yeah, you're the fruit, there's
chocolate, and the blanket is the crepe."

Carrie laughs.

Leonard's chatbox reads, "LOL! :)"

Leonard types, "Laughing is good."

Leonard smiles, seemingly proud of himself.

Leonard types, "But I don't know if I'm helping you sleep."

Leonard waits a moment.

Leonard begins tapping his fingers.

Leonard looks from side to side and whistles a little.

Leonard types, "Uh, Carrie?"

Carrie is facedown next to her computer, fast asleep. There
is the sound of a loud snore.

Leonard types, "Goodnight?"

MONTAGE - LEONARD AND CARRIE'S APARTMENTS - NIGHT

Leonard walks past his laptop. There is the sound of a chat
request.

Carrie, smiling, lays on her bed and types on her laptop.

Leonard types, "In your crepe?"

Carrie eats a piece of chocolate with her laptop on her lap.

Leonard walks away from his laptop. There is the sound of a
chat request. Leonard walks back to his laptop.

Carrie taps on her laptop and laughs.

Leonard writes, "Goodnight."

Carrie writes, "Hey, at least I didn't just fall asleep like
I usually do."

INT. HOMELAND SECURITY - DAY

Leonard files some papers in a cabinet. Sarah walks up next
to Leonard.

SARAH
Hey, is everything ok with our
weather girl?

LEONARD
Yeah, I guess so. Why?

SARAH
I don't know, she used to talk to
me all the time at night, but not
anymore. She must be talking to
Doug.

LEONARD
Nope, tracked her records, they
don't actually talk that much.

Sarah takes a step back.

SARAH
Huh...

LEONARD
She chats with me a lot at night
though, you know, online.

SARAH
Oh yeah, she asked for your ID
and...

Sarah turns to Leonard and grabs his shoulder.

SARAH (CONT'D)
Wait, a lot like everynight.

LEONARD
Yeah, I guess so.

SARAH
Well, shouldn't she be doing that
with Doug, you know, her boyfriend?

LEONARD
Uh... I don't know. Are they
calling themselves boyfriend
girlfriend now?

SARAH
I don't know. You seem to be her
girlfriend now.

Leonard seems taken aback.

Agent Bob walks past Leonard. Sarah grabs Agent Bob.

SARAH (CONT'D)
Hey, what would you say if I told
you that Lenny here chats with our
girl every night.

Agent Bob looks over Leonard.

AGENT BOB
Hmmm. Well, she's Carrie. You
don't seem like a Samantha, so I'm
trying to decide if you'd be
Charlotte or Miranda.

Leonard shakes his head and steps away.

Agent Bob and Sarah laugh.
