Bones (19) - skinny, 6 foot black kid from the streets.

Pablo (17) - fat, 6-2 hispanic kid

Priest (35) - hulking 6-10 black police officer

Jerry (23) - 5-10 chinese guy with a goatee

Cheryl (31) - 6-0 black lady who's a lawyer by day.

Hans (25) - 6-8 German man who dresses stylish

Bunyan (18) - 7-2 with wild red hair and dressed from the
70s.

Skittles (9) - shy brunette girl who watches excitedly.
The Three Old Men
- Sal (70s) - white haired and wrinkly.
- Larry (70s) - balding black grandpa with glasses
- Russell (70s) - tall, thin with a white mustache

DJ (26) - short fellow with a loud voice



EXT. ST. JOSEPH'S - DAY

The schoolyard is empty except for the basketball courts.
COACH SANCHEZ (45), a big Hispanic man, stands on the court
in front of a bunch of high school players.

COACH SANCHEZ
Glad you all could make it out for
summer practice. We've got a lot
to go over, now that Pablo
graduated, but if you work hard, we
might have a shot at another
banner.

HIGH SCHOOL PLAYERS
Yeah, that'd be sweet, let's play.

COACH SANCHEZ
First things first, though, you
need to get used to playing at a
high level. Now, Pablo's going to
help you with that this summer.

The High School Players look to the side.

The High School Players make a double take to the side and
their jaws drop.

Pablo walks onto the court with Bunyan, who towers over
everybody.

COACH SANCHEZ (CONT'D)
Oh yeah, he brought a friend.

Pablo tosses a basketball at the rim.

Bunyan jumps into the air and jams the ball through the hoop.

COACH SANCHEZ (CONT'D)
We start on defense. Your job is
to stop the big man.

The High School Players look intimidated.



INT. PABLO'S HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - DAY

The house is small, but nice. A door opens and Pablo exits
and yawns.

Pablo walks into the living room and stops.

Bunyan sprawls on a couch, asleep. However, Bunyan's arms
and legs seems to engulf the couch.

Pablo snickers.

There is the sound of a knock.

Pablo opens the door, revealing Bones.

BONES
Hey, my man. Where's the big man?

Pablo points over his shoulder at Bunyan.

Bones looks at Bunyan and laughs.

BONES (CONT'D)
He don't exactly fit here.

Bunyan snores.

PABLO
Dude, with his legs, I don't think
he'll fit anywhere.

Bones, holding his backpack, walks to Bunyan.

BONES
Wake up, Big Man, school is in
session.

Bones takes a stack of books out of his backpack.

Pablo closes the door and walks away.



INT. PABLO'S HOUSE - KITCHEN - DAY

Pablo enters a small kitchen full of bags of junk food and
candy. Coach Sanchez cooks at the stove.

COACH SANCHEZ
Hey, son, who was that?

Pablo takes some orange juice out of the fridge.

PABLO
That's Jimmy, doing some SAT stuff
with Bunyan.

Pablo sits down and fills a glass with orange juice.

Coach Sanchez sets a plate with eggs in front of Pablo.

PABLO (CONT'D)
Hey, thanks for letting Paul stay
here.

COACH SANCHEZ
No problem. Thanks for getting
Jimmy to tutor him. There's a lot
of coaches who want a look at him.
I'm getting dozens of calls every
day. That boy's on the A-train to
the NBA.

Pablo looks down at his plate.

PABLO
Yeah, I guess...

Coach Sanchez sits next to Pablo.

COACH SANCHEZ
Nobody's worked harder than you,
Pablo. You've got more moves than
I've ever seen in my life. It's
just, well, the pros want a...

PABLO
Yeah, yeah, he's got the height and
the hops they want. I know.

Pablo takes a big bite from his plate.

Coach Sanchez stands and pats Pablo on the back.

COACH SANCHEZ
Oh yeah, you mom got you some
candy.

PABLO
But...

COACH SANCHEZ
Just take it. She's got enough
trouble your brother already.

Pablo sighs.



INT. GYMNASIUM - DAY

Bunyan runs down the court in a relatively empty basketball
gym. Pablo, Coach Sanchez, and several SCOUTS stand on the
sideline.

COACH SANCHEZ
Moves well, doesn't he.

SCOUT #1
Not bad, let's see him jump.

Coach Sanchez tosses a ball to Pablo.

COACH SANCHEZ
Hey, Pablo, give him some passes.

Pablo dribbles the ball onto the court.

PABLO
Yo, Bunyan. Dunk this.

Pablo throws and alley-oop pass to Bunyan.

Bunyan flies into the air, catches the ball one-handed, and
thunders it through the rim.

SCOUTS
Ooooo

COACH SANCHEZ
Fastbreak.

Pablo dribbles the ball down the court.

Bunyan runs on the opposite wing.

PABLO
This'll make you look good.

Pablo flips the ball into the air.

Bunyan jumps and catches the ball. Bunyan flies through the
air and slams the ball and hangs on the rim.

BUNYAN
Yaaaa!

The scouts applaud.

Scout #1 walks onto the court.

Bunyan breathes lightly and Pablo breathes heavily as they
walk on the court.

Scout #1 walks past Pablo and towards Bunyan.

SCOUT #1
Very impressive, young man.

BUNYAN
Thanks, but I couldn't do it
without Pablo's passes.

Bunyan points to Pablo. Pablo smiles and nodes.

Scout #1 puts his arm around Bunyan, turning him from Pablo.

SCOUT #1
Yeah, that's great. So, they tell
me you haven't picked a school yet.

BUNYAN
Well, no, but I haven't even taken
all my tests and stuff. I'm still
getting tutored and...

Scout #2 walks up to Bunyan.

SCOUT #2
Hey, don't worry about it. We know
how to get people through this.
It's nothing new.

Scout #3 walks up to Bunyan.

SCOUT #3
Have you though of the west coast?
It's a lot warmer there.

BUNYAN
Well, no.. but, what about Pablo?
He can play too.

The Scouts give Pablo a look.

The Scouts turn back to Bunyan.

SCOUT #1
Maybe later. But tell me, Paulie,
what do you like to do?

The Scouts lead Bunyan away.

BUNYAN
Well, I like basketball.

SCOUT #1
That's good to hear.

Bunyan and the scouts walk away, leaving Pablo alone.

Pablo looks down at his gut and sighs.
