EXT. COFFEEHOUSE - DAY
Carrie, still wearing the sweats, sits at a table outside the
coffeehouse with a cup of coffee. The sun is shining
brightly.
Carrie takes a sip of coffee and basks in the sunlight.
Leonard, down the street from Carrie, looks at her and
smiles.
Carrie shades her eyes from the sun with her hand.
Leonard sits across from Carrie.
LEONARD
You look relaxed.
Carrie moves her hand and smiles at Leonard.
CARRIE
Nothing more relaxing than being a
bum in your sweats.
LEONARD
Yeah...
CARRIE
Don't worry, I'll return them.
LEONARD
I'm not worried, I know where you
live.
CARRIE
Do you now?
LEONARD
Well, no, but that sounds way
better than, 'Please return my
clothes, pretty please.'
Carrie and Leonard laugh.
LEONARD
So, uh, I heard you quit.
CARRIE
Yep.
LEONARD
You seem awfully happy about it.
CARRIE
Yep. The scared hasn't hit yet.
I'm just enjoying my newfound
freedom.
Carrie takes another drink of coffee.
LEONARD
But, why? You were good at your
job.
CARRIE
You know, I was. But just being
good at something you hate isn't
enough.
Carrie turns and looks across the street.
Across the street, a group of schoolchildren run and play.
CARRIE
I might not know exactly what I
want, but I do know that I'd like
myself a lot more if I was teaching
something meaningful to those kids
instead of trying to sell them
stuff.
Leonard nods and looks at the children running about and
playing.
Leonard turns to Carrie and smiles.
LEONARD
I think you're fine now, and you
definitely deserve a vacation.
Carrie looks down and smiles.
Carrie, still smiling, takes a drink of her coffee.
INT. TAYLOR AND HUDSON - DAY
Carrie, dressed normally, sits in her cubicle and places
items into a box. Leonard walks up to her.
CARRIE
You know, I spent 10 years of my
life in this cubicle. You'd think
I'd have more stuff than this.
LEONARD
I don't know, this looks heavy
enough. You need a hand?
CARRIE
Sure, what, you expect me to say
no?
Leonard and Carrie chuckle.
Sarah walks up to the cubicle.
SARAH
Ok, quiet down, you two are having
too much fun. Carrie, Taylor wants
to talk to you before you go.
CARRIE
Ok, I'll see him now.
Carrie stands and walks down the hallway.
Sarah shakes her head.
SARAH
Man, you're either the best or the
worst weather manager we've had.
I'm still not sure.
Leonard smirks.
Leonard notices something inside the box. Leonard reaches in
and removes the picture of Carrie near the Space Needle. A
post-it note falls off the picture, revealing CHUCK (35),
handsome with her arm around Carrie, and TINA (28), cute and
leaning towards Chuck.
LEONARD
Hey, do you know these people.
SARAH
Yeah, that's Chuck, her old
boyfriend. They broke up after he
moved to Seattle. The girl's Tina,
her old roommate. Not sure what
happened to her.
LEONARD
Chuck, huh, what's he up to now?
SARAH
I really don't know. This stuff is
really more Bob's department.
Leonard nods and looks intently at the picture.
INT. HOMELAND SECURITY - DAY
Agent Bob sits at a desk. Leonard walks up to him.
LEONARD
Hey, Bob, you remember Carrie's old
boyfriend, Chuck?
AGENT BOB
Yeah, he left for Seattle. Why?
LEONARD
Can you arrange for them to meet
sometime?
AGENT BOB
Yeah, sure... but, Why?
LEONARD
I just think she'd be happy to see
him. You know, after quitting her
job and all.
Agent Bob glances out the window. It is sunny outside.
AGENT BOB
Ok, you're the boss.
LEONARD
Thanks, Bob.
Leonard turns and takes a step away.
AGENT BOB
That the only reason?
Leonard stops and turns towards Agent Bob.
LEONARD
Wait, what?
AGENT BOB
Oh nothing. You just seem a wee
bit more concerned with her that
any of the previous guys we've had.
LEONARD
Isn't that good?
AGENT BOB
Heh, what do I know.
Leonard turns and walks away. There is the sound of a phone
ringing.
Agent Bob answers his phone.
AGENT BOB
Bob here.
