INT. TAYLOR AND HUDSON - DAY
Carrie, holding her box, walks through the cubicles. People
watch her leave. Sarah stands at the end of the cubicles.
SARAH
It won't be the same without you.
CARRIE
Oh, don't say that. We'll still
get lunch and it'll be nice.
SARAH
Yeah, but I still have to deal with
them.
Sarah beckons her head down the hall, where Taylor and Doug
stand.
Carrie laughs.
EXT. CITY STREETS - DAY
Carrie, holding her box, walks on the street. The sky about
is clear.
Near Carrie, the Vendor stands behind a hotdog cart. The
Vendor waves to Carrie.
VENDOR
Moving on with life?
CARRIE
Moving on to better things.
Carrie walks past the Vendor and down the street.
The Vendor lifts his cell phone.
INT. CARRIE'S APARTMENT - NIGHT
Carrie enters her apartment and turns on the lights. Carrie
sets the box on the floor and walks to her answering machine,
which flashes "2." Carrie presses the button as she walks
by.
There is the sound of a beep.
Carrie opens her refrigerator and takes out a juice box.
DOUG (V.O.)
(muffled)
Hey, this is Doug. I just wanted
to explain a few things. Just
don't want you to be mad or
anything, ok? Call me back
sometime.
Carrie shakes her head as she puts a straw into her juice
box.
CARRIE
No, I don't think so.
There is the sound of a beep as Carrie takes a drink.
CHUCK (V.O.)
(muffled)
Hi, Carrie. This is Chuck, you
know, Chuck Anderson? I live in
Seattle now, we used to date.
Carrie looks shocked and spits out a spray of juice.
CARRIE
Oh my god.
Carrie scrambles about.
CHUCK (V.O.)
(muffled)
Anyway, oddly enough, I'm in town
for a few days. Some business
thing just popped up, you figure.
I was just wondering if you were
free for lunch or something. So,
give me a call back. My number's
206-555-1378.
Carrie grabs a towel and starts wiping the juice off the
walls and floor.
Carrie freezes for a moment.
Carrie rushes back to her answering machine and hits the
button.
There is the sound of a beep.
DOUG (V.O.)
(muffled)
Hey, this is.
Carrie pushes the button marked "delete." There is the sound
of a beep.
CHUCK (V.O.)
(muffled)
Hi, Carrie. This is Chuck, you
know, Chuck Anderson.
Carrie hits the button marked "repeat."
CHUCK (V.O.)
(muffled)
Hi, Carrie. This is Chuck, you
know, Chuck Anderson.
Carrie hits the button marked "Play/Pause."
Carrie takes a few deep breaths.
Carrie, with a far off look in her eyes, walks to the sink
and turns the knob. Nothing happens.
Carrie blinks a few times and shakes the knob. Nothing
happens.
Carrie stares in disbelief at the sink.
INT. LEONARD'S APARTMENT - NIGHT
Leonard paces with his cell phone on his ear. Outside, it is
raining.
CARRIE (V.O.)
(muffled)
And now my water's out, so I can't
even shower or anything before
meeting my old friend. I mean,
what's he going to think? Carrie's
gone crazy, she quit her job, she's
not showering? Arrrrrrhhhhhh!
Leonard looks from side to side and bites his lip.
LEONARD
Well, I might be able to help a
little.
INT. LEONARD'S APARTMENT - BEDROOM - DAY
Leonard sits in front of his computer. There is the sound of
running water. The door to the bathroom is closed.
The running water stops.
The bathroom door opens and Carrie, dressed nicely, walks
into the bedroom.
CARRIE
Thanks for letting me use your
shower.
LEONARD
No problem. I figure that if it
was clean enough for you the other
night, then it wouldn't scare you
today.
CARRIE
Heh, well, thanks you still. Oh
yeah, I put your sweatshirt over
there.
Carrie points to a bag against the wall.
CARRIE
And I got all my stuff back.
LEONARD
Excellent. Have fun with your old
friend.
INT. LEONARD'S APARTMENT - DAY
Carrie and Leonard move to the front door. Carrie takes a
step and stops. Carrie turns back to Leonard with an unsure
look.
CARRIE
Hey, are you sure it's not too much
trouble?
LEONARD
Nah, I can get through their red
tape. You'll get your water back.
CARRIE
Aww, thank you. I'll make it up to
you.
LEONARD
It's cool, have fun.
Carrie exits. Leonard closes the door.
Leonard picks up his cellphone.
There is the sound of dialing.
AGENT BOB (V.O.)
(muffled)
This is Bob.
LEONARD
Hey, this is Leonard. I need you
to get Carrie's water turned back
on.
AGENT BOB (V.O.)
(muffled)
That should be easy.
LEONARD
Cool. Wait... why's it easy.
AGENT BOB (V.O.)
(muffled)
Heh, wait, you're kidding, right?
LEONARD
Uh no.
AGENT BOB (V.O.)
(muffled)
Oh boy, you should come in.
LEONARD
Why? What's going on.
AGENT BOB (V.O.)
(muffled)
You should come in because I was
the one who turned off her water.
Leonard's jaw drops.
