EXT. HOMELAND SECURITY - DAY
Leonard and Agent Bob run out of the building. Thunderclouds
gather in the sky above.
AGENT BOB
This doesn't look good.
LEONARD
Hey, we'll find her and it'll be
alright.
Agent Bob and Leonard run to a big, black SUV. Agent Bob
jumps into the driver's seat and Leonard enters the
passenger's side.
The black SUV speeds off.
EXT. PATIO RESTAURANT - DAY
Carrie, Chuck, and Tina stand outside the restaurant. Wind
is starting to pick up.
CHUCK
Hey, it was great to see you again.
CARRIE
Yeah, and hey, congratulations
again.
A gust of wind makes the three of them shudder.
CHUCK
We'd better get going. Looks like
it's going to come down soon.
CARRIE
Yeah, I think you're right. But
I'm happy for you.
It starts to rain.
CHUCK
Thanks. We'll talk to you later.
TINA
Bye.
Chuck and Tina wave and jog away.
Carrie waves.
Carrie turns around and begins walking.
Carrie kicks at a piece of trash on the ground.
Carrie begins to cry.
It begins to rain hard.
Carrie buries her head in her hands.
Bolts of lighting light up the sky.
INT/EXT CITY STREETS - DAY
Agent Bob and Leonard drive the black SUV through rain
slicked roads. People on the sidewalks cover their heads and
run for cover.
Bolts of lighting streak through the skies.
There is the rumble of thunder.
A tv screen on the dashboard of the SUV has a blinking dot on
a map of the city.
There is the sound of a cell phone. Leonard lifts his phone
to his ear.
LEONARD
Yeah.
INT. HOMELAND SECURITY - DAY
Barker holds a telephone as people rush about around him.
BARKER
Not to pressure you or anything,
but you might owe me a boat if you
don't get a move on.
A computer monitor shows a weather report. On the screen, a
hurricane forms off-shore.
WEATHERMAN (V.O.)
(muffled)
It appears that the area of low
pressure is forming into a
hurricane. Disaster relief teams
are preparing for the worst.
INT/EXT CITY STREETS - DAY
Leonard and Agent Bob in the SUV with Leonard holding his
cellphone.
LEONARD
Don't worry, I've got it under
control.
Leonard closes his cellphone and takes a deep breath.
AGENT BOB
What are you going to do?
LEONARD
I haven't a clue.
Rain begins falling in sheets.
A few umbrella covered tables blow into the road.
Agent Bob drives around the tables as he talks.
AGENT BOB
Look, I'm definitely not the right
man to be telling you this, but
here's what I think. Tell her how
you feel about her.
LEONARD
Wait, what?
AGENT BOB
Don't think I can't tell. Hell, we
can all tell.
Leonard looks out in fear at the road.
Wind knocks several trashcans and other debris into the road.
Agent Bob nonchalantly swerves around the trashcans and
debris as he talks.
AGENT BOB
Everyone's trying to keep Carrie
sane so we don't all die. But,
you're the only who cares more
about her than the well being of
the world.
Wind blows branches and leaves about.
Leonard looks concerned.
LEONARD
You're right. I do want her to be
happy. But how do say that? I
never can get the words right.
The SUV screeches to a halt.
AGENT BOB
Well, think fast because there she
is.
EXT. CITY STREETS - DAY
Carrie cries and she walks on the street. Hard rain and wind
surround her, but she seems oblivious to the weather.
The black SUV pulls up behind Carrie.
Leonard jumps out and runs to Carrie.
LEONARD
Carrie!
Carrie stops and seems confused.
Carrie slowly turns around and faces Leonard, who is soaked
and cringes away from the wind.
LEONARD
Come on, we've got to get you
out...
Leonard's words trail off as Carrie starts sobbing.
CARRIE
I can't believe I'm so stupid.
LEONARD
You're not stupid.
The storm swirls around Leonard and Carrie.
CARRIE
Yes, I am. I thought that maybe if
Chuck was coming back, then we'd
get back together and live happily
ever after. When am I ever going
to learn that this isn't a fairy
tale and no one's going to whisk me
away.
LEONARD
But...
CARRIE
No, buts. I'm 35, no one wants to
marry me, I'm only good for a cheap
thrill for some stupid player.
Leonard steps up to Carrie and lifts her chin.
LEONARD
No! You deserve way better!
You're a great girl and you deserve
to be happy and treated right by
someone who actually wants you to
be happy.
CARRIE
What, you know someone like that?
LEONARD
Yeah.
Leonard walks closer to Carrie.
LEONARD
Because if I could be that guy, I
know I'd be the luckiest guy on
earth.
Carrie looks up at Leonard agape.
The wind and rain slow a bit.
CARRIE
Really?
LEONARD
Really.
Carrie wraps her arms around Leonard and gives him a big
kiss.
Leonard wraps his arms around Carrie as they kiss.
The rain and wind stop.
Agent Bob, inside the SUV, smiles.
Carrie and Leonard break their kiss.
Carrie runs her fingers along Leonard's cheek.
CARRIE
I was hoping I'd deserve a guy like
you.
Leonard smiles and runs his fingers on Carrie's cheek.
A ray of sunlight lands on Leonard and Carrie.
INT. BARKER'S OFFICE - DAY
Title Card: A few weeks later...
Leonard sits across from Barker. Outside, it is sunny with
blue skies.
LEONARD
And I'm going to keep her happy.
Of course, I'm probably going to
piss her off every now and then,
but we need some rain too.
BARKER
So, what if it doesn't work out?
LEONARD
I gave my word that I would make it
work. That's the vow I took.
Barker frowns and nods.
BARKER
Well, alright then.
LEONARD
Alright?
BARKER
Alright. Good luck and
congratulations.
EXT. RESTAURANT - DAY
Carrie sits at an outdoor cafe with Sarah and a few other
girls. The girls all look at the diamond ring on Carrie's
left ring finger. The sky is blue and the sun is shining.
SARAH
Wow. I'm so happy for you.
CARRIE
Yeah, he's great. He cooks, he
gives me massages, we talk. It's
wonderful.
The girls all look at Carrie with envy.
Carrie sighs.
CARRIE (CONT'D)
I wonder what he's hiding?
A bolt of lighting cracks through the sky behind Carrie.
