INT. EFFRET MUSEUM - DAY
Thom and Lindsey enter a small museum. Various odd artifacts
lie behind heavy glass. The CURATOR, smoking a cigarette,
glances out of the corner of her eye at the Agents and
frowns.
Thom and Lindsey, holding their badges, walk up to the
Curator.
THOM
Excuse me, do you have the Scepter
of Treaty in your collection?
CURATOR
The tours are over for the day,
come back tomorrow.
THOM
We only want to see the Scepter,
this is very important.
CURATOR
It's over there.
The Curator gestures over her shoulder at a display case.
Lindsey walks to the display. Inside lies the Scepter, along
with a card that reads, "The Treaty of Scepters in 584 marked
a period of peace between the Vampires and the Effret."
Lindsey nods to Thom.
THOM
Would it be possible for you to
open the case? We need to
authenticate the item.
CURATOR
What is this, for a case?
THOM
Yes, it is.
CURATOR
Then shouldn't you have a warrant?
THOM
No, we haven't had a chance yet.
The Curator starts walking away.
CURATOR
Then get a warrant, if this is
really important. I've got things
to do.
The Curator walks to a few people who smoke cigars.
Thom glares at the Curator.
INT. DINER - NIGHT
Thom and Lindsey sit at the counter of a diner.
LINDSEY
They got to be hiding something.
THOM
No, they just don't like us because
we're not one of them.
LINDSEY
Even you.
THOM
Yeah, even me.
Lindsey turns away from Thom and takes a drink of coffee.
In the corner of the diner, a television shows the Lakers
running onto the court.
INT. STAPLES CENTER - NIGHT
A full house packs the arena as the Lakers run onto the
court. The air is filled with cheers and music from the
sound system.

Cheerleaders jump around on the court.
The Lakers form a pair of lines next to their bench.

Starting at forward, 6-5 from
Romania, Vladimir Draculovic.
Vlad runs between the two rows of Lakers, slapping hi-fives.
Vlad chest-bumps Jackson.
Vlad float into the air and opens his mouth. Vlad's eyes
glow red and his fangs grow.
The crowd goes nuts.
INT. DINER - NIGHT
Thom and Lindsey sit at the counter as before. The
television shows the Lakers getting ready for the tipoff.
COMMENTATOR (V.O.)
This is the first start of the year
for Vladimir Draculovic.
Personally, I'm surprised that it's
taken so long.
INT. STAPLES CENTER - NIGHT
Vlad stands opposite another player for the tipoff. The ref
tosses up the ball.
Vlad easily outjumps the other player and tips the ball to
Jackson.
The crowd cheers. A clock against the wall reads, "7:45."
In the stands, the Protestor makes eye contact with an Usher.
They nod to one another.
INT. STAPLES CENTER - MINUTES LATER
Vlad jumps and blocks a shot into the stands. There is the
sound of a whistle.
The ref blows the whistle again.
REF
Timeout on the floor.
The players all go to their respective benches as the crowd
quiets.
Coach Rupalo looks about the crowd. Then he turns back to
his players.
The clock on the wall reads 7:55.
The Protestor leaves his seat and walks down the aisle.
There is a whistle.
The players move back onto the court.
The ref gives to ball to Vlad, who inbounds to Jackson.
The Protestor walks down the stairs toward the court.
Jackson passes the ball to another Laker, who shoots.
The ball bounces off the rim, but Vlad grabs the rebound.
Vlad passes back to another Laker, and they work the ball
around the perimeter.
Jackson drives down the lane and gets hit by an opponent.
There is the sound of a whistle.
The ref walks to the scorers table, holding up a few fingers.
REF (CONT'D)
Foul, number 14 visitors.
The players all mill about the court.
The clock on the wall reads 7:59.
On the side of the court, the Protestor stands next to the
Usher. They nod to one another.
Suddenly, the Protestor and the Usher rush onto the court,
dashing past confused looking players.
The Protestor and the Usher tackle Vlad, knocking him to the
ground.
As the Usher lays across Vlad, the Protestor holds what
appears to be a large floodlight over his head. The
Protestors eyes burn with hatred.
PROTESTER
7:59 PM!
With an evil grin, the Protestor points the floodlight at
Vlad.
Vlad's expression goes from surprise to a look of fear.
Suddenly, Jackson tackles the Protestor. The floodlight
shines a bright light, but the light beam misses Vlad and
shines into the crowd.
JACKSON
Get that light!
Other players and Lakers dive on the Protestor and rip the
floodlight away from him. The light turns off.
Players wrestle about on the floor with the Protestor and the
Usher.
Lakers security, dressed in purple "Event Security" jackets,
storm the court.
Lakers security officers grab the Protestor and the Usher.
A few Lakers security grab Vlad and hurry him off the court.
INT. VAN - NIGHT
Four people, all dressed in black with a yellow 7.59 printed
across their chests, sit inside a van and watch a portable
TV. They include a FEMALE 7.59 and a THUG 7.59.
The TV shows Lakers security hurrying Vlad off the court.
THUG 7.59
What now.
FEMALE 7.59
Phase one is a failure, but we must
succeed in phase two.
The people open the doors to the van and exit to...
EXT. CARPATHIAN GARDENS COMMUNITY ROADS - NIGHT
The four 7.59s exit the van. A sign on a wall reads,
